variable framerate is actually a very bad thing, it causes loss in accuracy and makes physics behave very kooky and otherwise horrible...

there's a reason why AMD never bothered with the variable refresh rate tech they had on laptops some while back, its just not as good as it sounds.

Not only that, but I have noticed that if you switch out of heaven benchmark to the desktop and back to heaven again, crossfire is disabled and not restored and frame-rate is cut in half.

I'm also having an issue where sound pops and cracks if vsync is enabled with crossfire.

the sound bug is half known and AMD are getting it fixed sometime soon, the minimize bug on crossfire is probably in the same boat, just that with mantle and all the 14.x beta drivers are a clustercuss of everything and don't work very good in a lot of games.

Is it the sound stutter that comes from alt-tabbing from a game in fullscreen? biggrin.gif Atleast that's what I have right now, had it with 13.12 aswell. And my microphone seems to get stuttery aswell on VoIP programs aswell when I tab

Are you increasing your core voltage? It happens to me if I go over +70mv on my core.

Yeah, they range from 75-86 for the cards.

You do realize that any time you have Vsync off you have variable frame rates, right? Just because the monitor isn't showing it doesn't mean the GPU isn't rendering it.

Sorry if this post may seem pointless to anyone.

When did you purchase your card? Could be possible that ASUS has fixed the issue with the cooler since they first were released.

obviously, but anything above your framerate either is or isn't a concern, depending on the engine, physics can behave very odd if the deltatime goes very high or very low, most engines are based for vsync or a locked rate close to it.

excessively variable cycle rates can also cause thread sync misses, causing all sorts of lag and stutter issues.

I knew there was a reason I prefer v sync at 60fps settings over what g sync offers, like I was saying earlier. If it's not too action heavy you can go for 30fps v sync too.

Is that really a bug tho? Amd or nvidia, if I alt tab out of a game, there's a fair chance I won't be able to get back in that game, I'll have to force quit and restart. This is why I choose to run Raptr, for the in-game control panel browser and email etc. I also have my pad pr phone on hand. What I don't do is alt tab out of a game, ever. Has nothing to do with amd drivers for me.

This is interesting and likely why G-sync was a per game basis. But be careful, this topic causes a lot of passionate responses.
