I don't have the problem in other games though. Is it just a case of Sleeping Dogs being badly optimised? Will try one card later as well see what happens.

Suggestions? Will the 3570k do the dual 290's justice?
I just read this. Jeez. So what should I get for this board? Its a Z77 Pro ASUS. Seems a nice board. I guess I could go 3770k? Would that be enough? Or do I have to start over and go 6 core?

like Matt said, it depends on the game. i highly recommend an i7 for 2 290s. 3 . . . i7 Haswell would be minimum preferrably X79 and with the cpu oc'ed. again, this is just an opinion.

edit: might as well play with just one gpu and it might still be not enough.

My 2700k will go to 5.0Ghz. Should I use that instead for the 290's?

Are there any realworld benchmarks to back this up? I keep hearing i7 as I run 3 290x on an 3570k but I have not seen 100% on all my cores yet. The only scenario could be 64 man multiplayer due to the physics of all those people needing rendering at once??

I would just love to see a fraps or something just once.. I know switching cpu is a damn pain in the arse but it is so hard to find cpu comparisons i5 vs i7 with overclocks holding a 3 to 4 modern gpu configuration as constant. I am not even sure why they do all the cpu comparisons with only one gpu just to show no difference.

like Matt said, it depends on the game. in the case of Battleaxe, he has a choice and i recommend the i7. games that don't need HT, then turn it off to keep the system cooler. games that do, then simply turn it on.

i found this out playing BF3MP . . .

HT off

HT on

that was crossfired 7900 series cards.

If you leave afterburner open while your gaming, does it show each of you GPUs at 100% or is the usage up and down all over the place?

I have not experienced any bottlenecking with my 3570k at 4,6ghz, my 290s are on 100% in bf4 (@1080p, Ultra with 200% res scale no AA) and cpu is hovering at 90ish%, havent tested titanfall yet though.

Good to know. Thanks. I might just leave them on the 3570k then. That's be a lot easier. And I'm lazy after all. smile.gif

Is it worth getting a 290X over the 290
