HAHAHA, great troubleshooting dude... No offence but how can you be taken seriously?!? Could be a myriad of issues...... For example, a twisted pcix power connecter that now is delivering the power properly, bad seating in the pcix slot, etc. etc. etc.

And ASUS has great RMA! Not a single friend that I personally know, has any issues in the last 10 years with them - that speaks volumes. Mind you this is in Canada. I guess some people are angry they don't get a 'I love you' card' with their RMA.

No offence taken! Where have you been the last months I wonder, the blackscreening was a known issue with many cards. Sure, I tested all sort of things before RMAíng it...

Well if Asus was so great the past 10 years, they must be great now I guess, what education did you get dude, no offence?!

It's sad that a lot of people on here have the mentality that "well mine works fine so you're clearly just an idiot". I've been fortunate to be fairly trouble free, but I would be stupid to assume there aren't real problems going on. The black screen issue is VERY WELL known and documented.

Asus does NOT have a great RMA track record lol, just search this site for yourself and you'll see LOL

ASUS is well known for having a poor record for RMA... it is like the number 1 issue with the company. The second major issue is all of their middle end and low end boards are rip offs... only their highest end boards are competitive values.

I'm well aware of the blackscreen issue, and the fact that a lot of people got these with crappy PSU, and while overclocking for the most part. Due to the immense power draw of these cards. Then they took advantage of the RMA process to get a better clocking card.

I'm NOT trying to discredit you here, but I asked if you checked the 2 most important things that caused this and you did not.

You DID not try a different psu or motherboard - the 2 MAIN AND MOST probable causes. Please tell me what you tested? I'm curious now.

As a matter a fact, I have RMA'd a socket 1366 saberooth just 2 months ago after the 24pin connector melted due to sli and was given new z87 sabertooth as replacement, which I sold. RMA took just over 2 weeks - that is excellent service!!

BTW, I have no idea what you even are getting at mentioning my education?!

lol do you seriously believe people have been doing that? rolleyes.gif

I personally had an ASUS 290x which blackscreened at stock powered by an ASUS ROG M6F and a Corsair 860i as well as an 1200i later before I did an RMA with Newegg and got my money back.

So please tell me exactly which was crappy here- the 2 different flagship PSUs from Corsair or Asus's very own ROG M6F motherboard if the card was perfectly fine as you suggest?

I had a black screen Powercolor 290x running on 1300W PSU. With no overclocking or tweaking i'd get random blackscreens at desktop, browser, literally anywhere.

Some of the cards with Elpida Ram are defective. This is a known fact. Has nothing to do with people playing the silicon lottery!!!!

What is the estimated average OC a watercooled reference 290x can achieve?

He did try with another 290X on the same motherboard with the same PSU & it works just fine. Definitely these two not probable causes in this case.

LOL - I know personally a guy that RMA'd 3 cards like this. Does that answer your question?
