Much higher ambient (about 6c higher), yet still over 10c cooler on VRM1 and core then my other one. Both are repasted with Prolimatech PK-1 as Sapphire doesn't use warranty stickers on the screws wink.gif

The other one maxes out at 1180Mhz core and 1625Mhz VRAM at +200mV. Normal day to day clocks for it are maxed at 1140/1625 on +100mV. Getting 74c core and 80c VRM1 on 65% fanspeed.

This one, the newer one, is now testing at 1200Mhz core and the same 1625Mhz VRAM on +150mV core. Still, temps maxed out after 3 rounds of BF4 (same as the other card) on 70c core and 77c VRM1 with 65% fanspeed.

It seems like I got a fair chance on 1200Mhz 24/7 smile.gif Even if voltage is a tad high.

Thats quite impressive to get 1200 + 1625 if you get that full on stable. Im jealous of your TRIXX card lol.

I have not individually tried my cards mostly because I wanted to test what all three could do together more than anything. I still have not tried much with clocking higher recently, but I have reduced the voltage on mine and upped the VRAM Clocks higher.

+100mv (1.328vc actual load) gets me rock solid stable 1200mhz core clock on my 290X and memory is 1500mhz since its elpida ram. Accelero 3 cooler keeps me at 64c after hours of heavy gaming with BF4 or Crysis 3 maxed out and the hottest VRMs being VRM 1 tops out at 79-80c.

Is 1.328V the avarage voltage under load or the max (peak) voltage which you get when selecting max GPU-Z at the voltage?
Im asking because why are my voltage that low under load?
With +112mV my avarage voltage in GPU-Z is ~1.193.
You have very good cards when looking at VRAM OC, i would love to have 1500MHz with my Elpida RAM, but more then 1430 is pretty unstable (black screen after a while).

Spot on.

Artifacting can happen from not enough volts for when you're trying to push the core; Go too far and hard lock. I did have some blackscreens from pushing memory too far, once my card crossed 1700 on RAM I would get heavy artifacts and blackscreens.

Check my build log if you'd like I have a Google docs spreadsheet with all my overclocking attempts and notes on what issues I had with every increase in volts and clocks.

Wierd thing is, with my other Tri-X, the older one, the card shows heavy artifacting with white checkerboard patterns when core mhz is too high or volts too low. The newer one just... Locks up. No artifacts or whatever. Oh well. It initially seems like +150mV is enough for 1200Mhz core.

I'll check what the average load voltage is but i'm guessing ~1.24v.

Better check your vrm1 temp at that speed.
Is there any way to set more then 100mV GPU + AUX Voltage?
Sapphire Trixx has the option to select more then 100mV but no Aux setting.

I do wink.gif I know the dangers as it cost me a HD7970 reference back in the days. Ran at 1.38v load benches. VRM1 would hit up to 110-115c under the Accelero 7970 and after a last suicide run in order to get a ''record'' in 3DM11 at 1380Mhz core it blew one of the main VRM's mid-run in GT2 frown.gif

But, to get to the point, I haven't had any VRM go over 80c for longer periods of time at all. On +150mV the new card (65-70% fanspeed) runs at about 77c VRM1 and 51c VRM2.

I'm going to go back to testing the beast in BF4 again as that's proven to be a great stresstest when running Mantle on Ultra / no AA / 150% res scale 1080p a.k.a. 2880x1620.

EDIT: Ok, to answer the VDDC question, and VRM temps as well, my card at +150mV which i'm running now is at 1.266-1.273v load. This results in core temps of 71c max, VRM temps of 81c VRM1 and 53c VRM2 max. At 70% fanspeed btw. Ambient 24c.

I have two MSI r9 290x Gamer Twin Frozr. I do have them flashed with asus BIOS for better temp control.

Anyway, I just got this Displayport to VGA adapter because I want to use a KVM with my system which supports VGA only.

The displayport to VGA adapter worked with my bottom card but not my top card (primary). I swapped the cards and it still only works that one same card... which is now the primary topmost card.

I have no other displayport capable adapters or devices frown.gif

The error I'm getting is "Displayport link Failure".

Any ideas? Does one of my cards have defective displayport?

thanks...

Well guys, I told you about my blackscreening ASUS R9 290X which was sent back to me by ASUS after 10 weeks of RMA. My vendor was so kind to take on the next battle with ASUS regarding this ridiculous act of them and provided me today with a new and shiny Sapphire R9 290X Tri-X as replacement thumb.gifthumb.gifthumb.gif

1175/1500 with + 50 mV smile.gif
