Should I overclock my card on reference or should I wait for my kraken x60 to come in I have a kraken g10
post #19413 of 43924
I ordered my reference VisionTek R9 290 from Dell back on Dec.26.

It was delayed twice, and today I finally receive it. and they give me a non reference card.mad.gif

Someone tell me that Visiontek is the Zotac of AMD. Someone please tell me that my EK waterblock will fit on this card.

It is still a reference PCB so your waterblock should fit on it quite nicely.

Then it turns out my Powercolor 290's performance is actually quite impressive biggrin.gif

Your physics score is godly to me. 3770/4770 performance so much better than 4670, I was stupid not to spend the extra $100 here. Let that be a lesson to the folks spec'ing new systems, don't cheap out and get the 4670k if you're going to get a card as powerful as Hawaii.

What is your physics score in Firestrike?

should I keep the Aluminum plates? Or use thermal pads like everyone else? I"m leaning towards the latter

First Gigabyte Windforce dies within a few hours, after sending that back, I bought 2x MSI r9 290x Twin Frozr...

Found out yesterday one had a defective displayport. HDMI and DVI seems fine.

Thankfully it was the one I bought locally at Tiger Direct exactly 30 days ago so I was able to exchange it.

Went from 76% asic to 74.4%frown.gif Still, I'm so glad I don't have to RMA again.

ATI VIDEO BOARDS NEVER AGAIN... My luck is not that bad. I promise....

That's only noticed in synthetic benchmarks though. A 4770k and 4670k would trade blows in most games today.

On another note, a new powercolor 290 SKU on newegg for cheap. Can't wait to get my hands on the bios.
