Beta 14.3 loaded here mainly for the supposed vsynch fix. Well, it's not really fixed. My audio doesn't stutter now with vsynch on. However im getting bad video stutter still with vsynch on and even occasionally a frame rendered that is way out of place. Its almost like they are limiting the FPS instead of synchronizing with the monitor refresh rate.

Really sad as i have been hoping for working vsynch since i bought my cards. Anyone else getting the same issue?

hey fellas, just got my R9 290 a few days ago and am really excited about this card.
Got the MSI R9 290 Gaming BF4 version.
Cooling is stock for now but will put them under water in a few months.

Since this is a non-ref card, full cover blocks won't fit, even using the cooling configurator, EK shows only compatible universal water blocks.
Have read a few threads stating that just attaching heatsinks on the VRMs and VRAMs may not be sufficient and was wondering if this is actually true or those individuals just got a bad card to begin with.

If it is so, what would my options be for watercooling this card?

Anyways, enough of me talking, below are the GPU-Z pics.

I really hope, I"m having driver issues, because it took me forever to add my VisionTek R9 290 to my waterloop.

Here's what happened:

1) I left the PC, and when I came back, the montor said unsupported resolution and I had to restart the PC
2) Windows 8 logo appears, but black screen after.....graphics card issue
3) Tried using iGPU, same story
4) Switched back to PCIe and let Windows do it's restore thing, and it uninstalled the display adapters
5) Once in the OS, I completely uninstalled 14.4 and rebooted
6) Tried installed 13.6 (I think), PC always freezes after the first (flash/blink whatever you call it)
7) Went back to Intel drivers, (had to do a rollback). Can no longer extend displays. HDMI port mimics Displayport, and there doesn't seem to be a way to extend

and now I'm stuck..... I really hope this has something to do with ULPS and it's not the VisionTek that is defective, or else I would have to put it back together and ship it back frown.gif

Once I figure out how to move my DOGEcoin wallet to my laptop, I will probably install Windows 8.1 and try again

get the 13.12 whql driver

And use DDU in safe mode to completely clean the PC of all existing display drivers first.

My Sapphire 290 Tri-X OC 290 in upper slot, Powercolor PCS+ 290 in lower slot air cooled crossfire temps in Far Cry 3:

Ambient 22-23. Air is fine for the better Hawaii coolers if you have good case airflow and get the cards with good coolers.

Thanx for adding me to the club..
I have tried coolingconfigurator.com actually. Only showed me universal blocks.

Added my rig to my sig...Some parts, especially the mobo n processor are dated i must admit and have been told that it might bottleneck my gpu a bit.

Well, with such a powerful board and cooler you should have no problem getting 4.2Ghz+ outta that CPU.

Really? I was thinking of a modest 3.8 actually. My current OC a friend did it for me. been reading up on OCing but since I was happy with the 3.6, i left it alone.
Now you got me itching to get a higher OC...
Gd to know...I'll give it a go, along with oc-ing my 290 and see how far i can get it
