So I had a weird problem occur yesterday. Was playing Arkham Origins when suddenly I got a BSOD saying system exception thread not handled as the error code. I restart and all of a sudden CCC won't load and Device Manager was telling me "windows has stopped this device because it has communicated that it's not working properly" code 43 for all 3 of my cards. All my restore points were deleted somehow too and my ssd boot drive keeps getting loaded with files I can't see because the available space keeps getting lower and lower everytime I look at it for no apparent reason. ( but that's another problem). Anyways, I had to disable all my cards except 1 uninstall 14.2 betas and then install 14.3. Cards seem to be ok now but I've never had a BSOD from overclocking that didn't say atikmdiag exception or whatever it says usually for driver problems.

It is indeed very high and cannot be considered safe anymore. Are you somehow running extremely low fanspeeds?

Hi, I'm considering upgrading from my 780ti to a 3 x 290x configuration with 3 monitors in mind, watercooling the whole thing. I'm running a rampage iv black and a mildly overclocked 4930k. I don't see overclocking/volting the cards beeing necessary right now (+I don't mine), so I'll be running all three at stock. Since I had been considering SLI when building the rig, i went with an ax1200i. After having watched the newegg video, a trifire config should draw 950w at full load. Should I upgrade the PSU to maybe an EVGA 1300W?

When it comes to watercooling, I'm thinking 2x D5s, EK Blocks and 2 x 480mm rads (45mm and 80mm) in push pull to cool the cards + cpu. But that totals up to 16 fans + 3 case fans = 19fans. That adds to the power draw, as do the 2 pumps.

Or should I run the cards + cpu (+ mobo) off the 1200w and add a 2nd/slave one for pumps, fans, my 1x ssd and 1x sata, to have a bit of head room?

Hey buddy,

I have a 4770K and 3 x 290s and they pull 850 - 900 W from the wall during gaming with a mild OC on the 4770K to 4.75 ghz and the 290s at stock. I run a AX1200 and its holding up fine (knock on wood) for over 3 months now. Im also running 2 D5 pumps and 11 fans thumb.gif

Your setup will pull more power but I can't image your CPU OC pulling an extra 200W over my 4770K so you should be fine.

Watercooling can really increase the efficiency of the 290s, drawing a lot less power - even with +87 mV and 1175/1375 OC on all 3 cards I pull around 1000W max, which the AX1200 handles beautifully (again knock on wood biggrin.gif).

I'm running basically the rig you describe (4820k though) with 21 fans in total and d5 pumps all on a single 1300g2. Works great and as you're thinking, you won't need to overclock the gpu's for anything right now. I also have a rig with a 780ti clocked over 1200mhz and I never ever game on it anymore. I've had no issues with tri-fire on my 290 rig. It plows through all games.

Enjoy!!! thumb.gif

Can that chrome\silver\nickel metal part be removed and not used? or possibly painted?

Does anyone know?
