Just bought my first R9 290, $323 free ship off Ebay. Sapphire Stock Cooler... not going to unlock it or anything, but, considering buying the Arctic Hybrid to install on it, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835186095

Worth it? Seller had 100% feedback and sold several cards... so it should be legit, and Sapphire has a good rma service, so as long as I have s/n sticker on back i should be good

Good deal. Just be aware that if Sapphire find out you removed the stock cooler they will not honor the warranty. I would test the card out (find max OC, bench and game the heck out of it) for a month or so to make sure the card is good before you remove the stock cooler. That's what I did with my ref card before I put on my Gelid, then eventually water block.

indeed.
unscrewing perfectly and all of that doesn't matter when the thermal paste inside is not the same and the thermal pads are broken or misplaced.
this is why I'm starting to appreciate the companies that allow removal of cooler if there is no damage done to card

Most companies don't honor warranties on secondhand purchases anyway, so it may not matter. Does Sapphire warranty secondhand?

I have RMA'd 2 sapphire cards - both with replaced TIM, both took just over a week to get a replacement. Mind you this is in CANADA

Great deal on the card but I would avoid the Arctic Hybrid, lots of returns on those coolers mainly because they do not perform as well as the cheaper but larger Arctic Accelero 3 and 4. I have the arctic accelero 3 myself and another member here had the Arctic Hybrid and using the same voltage and overclock I was getting as much as 10c cooler on the core. Only issue as I mentioned is room, I have a huge tower so its not big deal for myself.

How are you guys going above 1235 core clock in Afterburner? No matter what I try, even doing the "unofficial overclock method," it still doesnt change anything for me. I also tried using trixx 4.8.2 and it didnt have any core voltage adjustment. I am using an xfx 290, reference.

Are you using the latest beta for afterburner? It lets me go as high as 1300mhz core on the slider.
