I manly upgraded because I have a 1440p monitor and was hitting the ram max in some of my games.
The ref 290 fan is louder than the ref 680 fan. I had a 670 FTW which had a ref 680's PCB and fan. Clocked at 1241/7500 my 670 would get mid 11k in 3dMark11 graphics, my 290 at 1245/6500 gets just over 18k so there is a massive performance increase.

That is true, its not a big deal maintenance wise I guess you could say but for the time being im good with air. Might eventually go the water route one day though.

ok thanks. I had the stock 670 blower from which i read was alittle more noisy then the 680. i plan on setting the temp target at 88C and the max fan at 50% I know it will down clock but i dont really care that much. im sure it will still run circles around my old 670. and for 120$ more ontop of what i sold my 670 for I think its a good deal. oh and I got a copy of bf4 too smile.gif Im also waiting to see if i can go water.

Powercolor PCS+ 290 is $459.99 at Newegg right now. Some Hynix versions of this card are reporting underperformance issues, and it's a huge card a three slotter. Those two caveats aside, great price for the coolest running 290 out there with factory clocks of 1040/1350.

I guess 1200 to 1300 would be good for benching but for gaming it probably wont make much of a difference.
Im flat out getting 1345@1500@1.485v on mine thumb.gif

That's insane, but how are you able to push to 1.485 on the card? Even with +200mV on trixx I think before the vdroop max I saw was 1.36 or so. Are you changing the hexadecimal in AB?

He is using ASUS BIOS. Using GPU Tweak allow higher voltage.

Gotcha thanks. I would use GPU Tweak but it never reads my cards properly in my setup and power limit and voltage is always greyed out for the non primary card.

AB is also unlockable to allow for higher voltage than +100, +200, +300, ect.

Hi, need some help. I've noticed that memory clock drops to idle while gaming . It happened a few times in a couple of month in BF4 (the only game i play). Is it software or hardware problem. Catalyst 14.xx betas
