Was just looking into possibly WC'ing the 290x's i am getting and have a query .......... http://www.watercoolinguk.co.uk/p/Aqua-Computer-kryographics-Hawaii-for-R9-Radeon-290X-edition-acrylic-glass-nickel-plated-version_42990.html that kind of block what would i do as by stock both graphics would be almost touching? they do NOT have a gap between them? i have no experience with WC'ing so what owuld best thing be to do as i doubt i will have enough gap between them to have the loop directly between both GPU before going back to the radiator

Your best bet would be looking at EK water blocks and FC bridges. The bridge with a block would probably be preferred in your case.

The bridge would have almost no clearance though? as the cards would be against each other pretty much as i dont have a 2 bay gap between then it iwll be 0

Check this one

With water dont matter if they are next to each other as long as you can hit the pci-e slot and connect the loop. R9 290 xs are dual slot cards. There is no real heat to speak of.

XFX r9 290 OC Black edition. Reference cooler for now, but will water block it in a later.

With stock cooler, they will be touching but it's different story with water block. You'll have one *PCIe slot* gap between them.

Why don't you connect both GPU in series (or parallel)? No need to go through a radiator before second GPU. The heat is not that bad if you have enough radiator.

Is the bench/game hard locking when this happens?  I never got vertical bars like that with my card.

If I pushed the memory too far I would get a pure black screen and a hard lock or a crash; not always a BSOD though.

Pushing the core too far I would get artifacting and flickering which was typically solved by more voltage.  Even when I ran out of voltage to add, a benchmark would complete no matter how severe the artifacting got...I let it go one time through a whole bench expecting it to crash because of how awful the the artifacting/flickering was, but it finished the bench.  My score was lower than previous runs but it held through, I was eek.gif

What are your temperatures on VRMs and the core like at those clocks?  If your rig pics are up to date it looks like you're :Snorkle:

What drivers you running?  Did you scrub drivers before re-installing each time?

I would reduce the memory clock back to stock and see if that 1175 core is stable with +100 mV; 100mV seems a little high for only 1175 unless you got an underwhelming card.

What utility are you using to OC? Whichever you use. make sure ULPS is disabled and you are forcing constant voltage.  A few people have had issues with AB, myself included.  Trixx has solved some strange issues for a few people, you may want to consider trying it.
