What Kizwan said, see my thread here with 20%+ temp drops on VRM1. A few people with EK blocks have commented on similar temp drops in the thread.
You will need to buy (1) of these to cover up to (3) cards' VRM1 section:
I have the XSPC and the performance is fine for core, it helps to upgrade thermal pads if you really want to push voltage/clocks.
The active backplate for Aquacomputer actually does little more than the passive one; it does however complete the look
I've been meaning to put thermal pads between my backplate and VRMs, just haven't gotten around to doing it yet. I will have that info posted sooner or later.
