wondering what is your actual voltage under 3dmark11 stress?

Hi,

Was just wondering if anyone had tried out the new Sapphire R290 Vapor-X yet, and if so what's the feedback?

Being interested in silent/discrete running when it comes to my PC I'm wondering if this one could be the "R290 of my dreams".

Cheers

I resolved it by connecting the end of the fanplate to my case with a shoolace, so much for my high end system biggrin.gif

It hovers aroudn 1.2v with lots of delightful vdroop all over the place. I imagine 1.25 volts is still pretty safe for a 28nm chip just like it was for Tahiti right?

Memory OC on these cards is not that important. I have tested with stock RAM clock and very high overclock; up to 1700. Check my Shrunken Beast build log for the spreadsheet listing performance gains from RAM speed. On average for 3dmark, Unigine, and FFXIV benchmark it was only a 5% performance jump.

If you flash the ASUS BIOS, then you should be able to use GPU Tweak. However, I don't know if it has Aug Voltage.

You definitely didn't damage anything when installing the block correct?

Have you tried re-seating the card in the slot? Check all your other connections in the case while you're at it. This can fix all kinds of strange unexplainable issues. I know my card with XSPC backplate makes it a tight fit to get underneath the RAM clips.

Scrub drivers and try reinstalling them.

Maybe try fresh Windows install again.

I reinstalled my drivers, reseated the card. and I flashed the ASUS PT1 bios for now, it seems a bit more stable I can at least run 1150/1250 now with MSI AB on only +100mV

I wonder why im having trouble breaking 10k or getting beat by a 290. I still picked up another ref 290x maybe if i can find a cheaper lightning or a deal on an ek block $850.00 is alot lol. You did run firemark extreme and not performance, right? Cause performance gives higher scores. Also what driver are you using I think I used 14.3 w/pt1 for that run. Does the 13.12 give significant performance advantage in benchmarks. Can you or anyone else post some 3d mark firestrike extreme scores?

Here's the highest score I could get with my 290 for Firestrike Extreme.

@Valley 'Extreme HD'-Preset, with +200 mV it's around ~1.26-1.28 V, with some spikes to >1.3 V, max. spike is 1.388 V. Temps. @ 67° C maximum.
Not sure for 3DMark, will test that soon.

@Stock it is 1.15 V average - 290X XFX Ref.-Board @ Accelero Hybrid | Tri-X BIOS | ASIC 78.9% | Catalyst 14.4 Beta

Additionally, I hear some mild coil whine at 800+ FPS (high-pitched whiny noise) and at +200mV (very silent, sounds like a HDD-access.)

+Rep!

Nice work, mine too needs a lot of vddc offset for the 1200, not a golden chip I'd say smile.gif

With the "proper" ventilation you can even "survive" on stock air cooling also tongue.gif
