I know they have 10% more cores, but it doesn't seem like they exhibit 10% more performance in most cases.

Still a nice score you have there :thumbsups

awww. if only I didn't kill the VRMs(dropped a tiny heatsync right over the backside of the VRMs) on my old card. I sure that card had a killer ASIC value.

My 290 is 80.4%, and there have been several people who get higher clocks without any additional voltage.  My card started needing extra volts shortly after exceeding 1000MHz core...but by card does very well under water though, which with the high ASIC quality that shouldn't be the case? Right?  I don't really know much about ASIC, if someone could elaborate?

290 probably better bargain, as a mild OC gets you same or better performance than 290X.  If you're running 5760x1080 eyefinity, one 290 can do it, but don't expect 60fps in every game.  I am running 5760x1080 on one 290 and it is very capable, with a healthy overclock of 1200/1500.  Only problem is it taxes the a single 290(X) to the max most of the time.  Your cooler would have to be very good, or use a Kraken as I mention below.  FFXIV I never go below 40fps with all settings but AA maxed out.  Borderlands 2 is capped at 72fps the entire time even with 4 people playing and fighting The Warrior.

That PowerColor PCS+ with 3-slot cooler is a beast if you have the room for it.  Great temps and low noise.

Other option is a NZXT Kraken G10 and an AIO cooler.  As long as you can fit a 120mm AIO radiator somewhere this option is hard to beat since it will be silent, keep the core much lower than any air cooler, and the Kraken G10 has a fan that sits directly over the VRMs for most 290s AFAIK.

Should be, Rosewill Capstone 650M runs my 290 and 4770k without issue.  If you have FX 8-core with high OC you probably wanta little more power because they need as much as a 290 with a fair OC on them

Minimal improvement going to 4770k.  Your odds are pretty much guaranteed to hit 4.4GHz, as I have had a 4770k that wouldn't make 4.5GHz.  Most chips will get to 4.5GHz in the ballpark of 1.25V

My 4770k makes 4.5GHz at 1.259V

If you're going to upgrade CPUs my suggestion would be to skip 4770k and wait for next gen, or go with 6-core.

Looks really good. How's the temps/noise? Mine in tri fire gets very loud if I keep them cool, I can't imagine 4 way. Also just 1000 watts? Or do you have a second psu? Congrats though, I'm not knocking your system just curious, your setup looks great.

I would also, i gave up trying to put 4 on air and went water cooling. Now i'm spoiled because i have almost no noise now. But on air mine kept crashing due to massive heat buildup between each other.
Congrats on a rad setup:thumb:

First of all thanks :3 I'm saving up for 4k monitor. Anyway here are thermal pictures of full load for about 18 hours. Degrees are in celsius.

Main power! biggrin.gif

Although GPUs are very close avg. temp is around 70°C.
While I'm playing Battlefield 4 noise is not to loud. But when I'm mining - fan on 100% - noise is 76 dB at a distance of 1 meter from the case.
I like when cables are hidden and I made it minimalistic. This is latest photo - I switched PSU.
1300W is for 3 GPU - nothing more. 1000W is for MB, SSD and GPU.
Also in take out from case HDD holders for better air flow.

Yeah I would like to go and switch this into water cool monster. Probably I would...but you know - money biggrin.gif.
Now I'm saving up so I gonna see what I will buy...

Ok so I think my card is throttling? During BF4 my core clock kept fluctuating between 990mhz and 1030mhz. Is this normal? 1030 is the stock clock of this card. I'm using the 14.3 beta driver. Maybe thats the problem?
