Anyway, I tried searching around and I can't seem to find a definite answer, some ppl even say you have to change some things in the registry, made me a little confused. confused.gif
DP standard means you can go up to 16bpp if bandwidth allows, if you look at 10bit displays you'll notice they require you to use DP in the first place, this is why.

Currently the 290/X is DP 1.2 compliant, DP 1.3 will be finalized the end of this quarter which brings double bandwidth and allows up to 4K@120Hz or 8K, however there's no knowledge if 290/X can be upgraded to this standard or not.

oh woops, actually meant 16bpc, which is 48bpp, which I doubt will ever see use really unless monitors start using super dynamic contrast tech that can utilize full HDR
(without backlight adjustment that is, most monitors today adjust the backlight intensity to obtain their high dynamic contrast)

Who wants to share his opinion about what's the best R9 290X on air?

Thought the Lightning might be 'The One', until I read this Techpowerup review... (http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/MSI/R9_290X_Lightning/)

I vote for mine, the Tri-X smile.gif (fast and silent)

Yes I know that my rear fan is exhausting. Like I have said, I have tried many different fan configurations and nothing seem to help the gpu.

I just gotten 2 MSI r9 290 Gaming, but from different batches. My 3Dmark score is P7607. Is this normal? no OC.

http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/2965143?

Also, my new 290 is missing some caps near to the gpu fan controller, as compared to the 1st batch which has it.

Lastly, what else can i do to the settings? Will be WC it at a later time.

no fans will help if the cooler itself is the problem. i mean if the paste used is junk or applied the wrong way. anyway to contact msi. i would inspect the card by disassembling it. it is cooling no better than a reference and that temp is just for the core. i would imagine the vrms are higher. if you don't plan on watercooling . . . i would return it. seriously.

not sure what happened there. single 290 bone stock with an i7 HT off at 4GHz.

what psu do you have? pls fill Rigbuilder found in the upper right corner of page. btw, you can't possibly leave the i5 stock with 2. i would not even do it with 1.

psu is good. but the score is not normal. you may have to reinstall 14.4. you enabled crossfire in CCC? you disabled ULPS?

the cpu is fast just need to be oc a bit. 4.3GHz at least.

Just got my Reference MSI R9 290. Loving it so far. Got the temps around 80 with no overclock at full load, by using a custom profile. using latest stable drivers. Loving the card so far. But thinking of either going the Kraken G10 water route or maybe a Gelid Icy Rev 2.... Thoughts?
