Wow... That 9370 is really holding your score back. I got almost the exact same score but with a single 290x... http://www.3dmark.com/fs/2139361

Always wanted to go back to an 8350 and crosshair v formula z board, but no way now...

to note both intel and amd score way way way lower in windows 8 on physics, ( 500-2k different systems will have different scores, on one of my 8350s it is 500 and another ~ 1500 )

If thats true,

his GPU SCORE = 20528

vs

Your GPU SCORE = 13903

If your comparing the overall system score then yes, your CPU scored more points and HIS GPU's scored more points.... am i missing something?
your missing the epeen, he is after numbers which most benches are intel favored

@everyone -- You know, my benchmarks aren't as high as comparable Intel machines, but the experience (in my experience) is and has been smoother. I had a 3770k that was rock solid for a little over a year, and I sold it to my brother for cheap, because his old Phenom crapped out and he was short on funds. I replaced it with a 4770k + Gigabyte UD4 board, and the PC was never stable, it was crashing all the time. I took it back to Microcenter, and got a diff 4770k + MSI MPower board, and this board would reset all my BIOS settings on reboot, every single time. I took that back and went back to an AMD CPU, because for the many many years I was with AMD, I never had a single issue that wasn't caused by me. I got the 9370 + Crosshair V-Z for about 200 less than either of the 4770k combos I had, and with the money saved I also upgraded my then fiancé's PC (now wife).

In games, the 290x has been flawless, but I wanted to max everything so I grabbed another (since they're cheap on ebay at the moment), and it's awesome. My benchmarks aren't as good as Intel builds, but again the performance in games has been stellar, with no issues in anything I play. And, speaking from owning both sides of the coin, I had stuttering and skipping with the same stuff on a 4770k.

*Rant over*

I uploaded a screenie so everyone could see what it was like on an AMD machine. Hope it helps someone.

Intel usually does better on the physics test but its the combined test where AMD falls short....

Firestrike doesnt load up all the cores during the combined so the score is not as good, gaming wise there are very comparable and there is little to no difference really.
^^ This.

not as bad in 3dm11

See, this is my whole point. It's kinda pointless to bench on my hardware, but I do it to check some stabilities and what not out. If I can bench stable (regardless of score, even though I do try to get mine higher), then I surely can game stable. My hobby is gaming, not benching, and if I get the kind of performance, that I crave, on AMD or Intel, then so be it. Doesn't matter to me, if I'm stable and can crank the settings in game. I've used both sides of the camp for CPUs and the other two sides for GPUs (and ATI before it was bought by AMD, so I guess it's a 3 side there) and I've switched along the way, back and forth. I'm not trying to start a flame war by any means, but if you get anything out of my post, please get this....

We all have a love of computing, and we all want the best hardware, but what is "best" to you, may not be what is "best" for me. Some want the fastest, no holds barred, while others want stable and fast (even if it isn't the fastest of the fast), but we all come here to discuss these things -- in all their many facets. We should be encouraging each other, not saying some of the stuff from the last page, because of their choice in components. The more benchers/gamers/media enthusiasts that there are, the better it is for all of us. All of us are what pushes these companies (ALL of them) to innovate and push cutting edge.

So, please try to be a little more accepting and not mock each other for our choice of hardware, because of what we value in our rigs.

Back on topic, these two video cards are awesome, and I can't wait to try 4k. Is anybody here pushing 4k monitors with these cards? Or even 780s/Titans?

shhhhhh ! please dont let everyone know the secret personally i am sick of the trolls in the amd threads ninja.gif

and, i have both a 2011 and a 8350 and i much much much prefer my 8350, i really hope amd does not abandon this because the 8350 feels so much smoother day to day ( windows, internet ) i can see the hangs on my 2011 vs my 8350

also i would like to throw this in to here i am starting to mess with firestrike and when i get my 8350 back up ill mess with it ( atm it is ripped apart for a complete overhaul that will probably take quite awhile, i need some stuff and i am spending my monies elsewhere

in other news fedex came with my komodos and blocks/rads ( 4x480s biggrin.gif RIVBE block ) but he didnt leave them i need to sign for them :/ thumbsdownsmileyanim.gif

Hey guys so I've got my 290 installed. I did get a black screen while overclocking so im back to stock but Im getting a lot of CTD in titanfall now? anyone know what could be causing this.

I uninstalled and went into safe mode used ccleaner and then driversweeper so Im pretty confident in the driver install(14.4)

also Im sure its stupidly obvious but where can I find the PT1 bios thanks!

After I stuck a waterblock on my 290x, and started overclocking, I had the same exact issue in Titanfall, crash to desktop. Also, I had the same problem in Skyrim, Battlefield 4. I needed to turn the memory overclock down, and up the power % to +50 in AB/Trixx. Try to just overclock your core and see if the card holds up while gaming.

4 spoiler down, under Other BIOSes.

Please be careful with these BIOSes, especially the PT3 one which disables all safety measures.

What is the OC, voltage, Memory type (Elpida, Samsung or Hynix) and ASIC quality of your chip?

hmmm ok

With that setup, you can expect about 1085mhz/1500mhz on stock voltage, perhaps 1100mhz on the core and 1500mhz on core with +12mv voltage. You will probably cap on air cooling at 1200mhz core and 1600mhz memory at +175mV voltage.

Does the PC PCS+ R9 290 still have problems at manufacture? They are a good price but I'm not sure whether it is worth the grief, if it faults,
