Does anyone else have stability issues with over-volting alone? I have a reference GigaByte 290 vBIOS...3523 on 14.4 Win8.1.1, and it seems going much beyond about +100mV regardless of clocks or Aux V causes instability, and this card fails in a way I have never seen before, weather too high of a clock or this voltage issue; about half the image in thin even vertical bands will shift left or right making it appear like a garbled double image with black stripes sometimes with pink bands on one edge, in extreme cases it'll black screen.
Either way, the driver never crashes/restarts, no typical over-overclocking artifacts, the image will just stay that way until reboot
I use Afterburner B19; force constant voltage. Card is under hybrid cooling, temps are great. PCPower 950W single rail, plenty of power.
I will test again with 13.12 drivers. I am not sure if a different vBIOS could make a difference, as all but the Sapphire have the same version numbers. Gigabyte did release a new UEFI vBIOS recently I may try.
This isn't a dealbreaker, as I can hit a stable 1150/1500 @+100mV, but i think this chip can go much further as I was able to bench at 1250/1600 +165mV before it **** itself.
Sorry for the long post, I will make a new thread if needed. Suggestions?
