I'm on 14.6 RCs though.

I just installed 14.6 as well (literally just now, I'll report back if it fixes it). What exactly do you mean by switching to/back?

The card for some reason switched output to a plug with no monitor connected. Connecting a monitor to it, then using CCC to switch the output back to my main monitor fixed it & it hasn't occured again since. Check to see if it's outputing to one of your other plugs if you have a second monitor to do this with.

Will do, thanks.

EDIT: It does appear to be outputting to the second plug, or at least completely ignoring the initial monitor on boot. Can't seem to get it to work properly. Looks like others have complained about it online as well as happening with 14.1+. This is a bad start for my first AMD card...

Ugh. After finally stabilizing 4.7 GHZ on my i7 4790k (passed 10 hours of intel extreme test and the four hours I left it on Prime) pushing the best clocks I've managed to get ever on this card at 1247Mhz/1500MHZ ( don't worry I decided to not pursue going over +200mv) I decided to switch over to the new Catalyst 14.7 RC.

So to make a long story short, after DDU'd the old drivers and installed 14.7 everything ran fine last night through a few benches. When I woke up this morning and tried to boot not one minute after I got into Windows and got hit with the dreaded black screen. Now it keeps happening within 45 seconds to a 1 minute 30 after booting.

So as you can imagine I'm a little stuck.

So a little advice is needed here as I've never gotten one before. Is it driver related? Memory related? A combination? Did I Bork myself with those clocks?

A little help would be appreciated.

Yep, I was hosed after installing the new drivers. I submitted a ticket to AMD about it.

I flashed my card back to stock BIOS and it worked again (947mhz core, Powercolor 290 OC). I was on an ASUS 290x bios.

If you have another computer, I would try a low clock/stock bios and flash it and see if that helps.

I did a full clean out, DDU, etc and had this same issue. Definitely frustrating. I also had to use a backup monitor, as it wouldn't work over displayport or HDMI with my 4k monitor, so I had to hook up an old 1080p HDMI monitor to get a signal out to even flash it.

Good luck!

Just picked this R9 290 up on eBay for a little over $300 shipped biggrin.gif

It was used for about two months according to the seller

Found something strange. Firstly, the upper DVI port is more likely to detect a GPU and secondly, of my two monitors, my Dell U2312HM refuses to be detected in either port upon boot, even in a dual monitor configuration while my Samsung T220 is detected and works in either port (gets detected faster in the upper port). Any ideas as to why this happens?

EDIT2: Okay, now I'm confuzzled. Swapped DVI cables and rolled back to 14.4 and now both monitors work together, individually, or in either port. thumb.gif Hopefully it stays this way,

This happened to me when I had a 7870 and was using HDMI cable. The cable was bad quality and didnt work well with my lg monitor. Changed the cable and al monitors detected at boot without problems. It was the cable because I connected a DVD player with HDMI out put to the monitor and had the same problem. If you have another cable try that. Maybe the combination of GPU+cable+monitor doesnt work.
