MSI has changed their design again so the EK Rev 2.0 block won't fit , Gigabyte WF3 cards have a block for them made by EK (Rev 2.0), XFX has a Reference design, The DCU II has it's own block made by EK.
Tri-X is also reference design, Vapor-X doesn't have a block and not sure if it will and i really don't know about Powercolor's PCS+ but i think it's a Ref PCB as well

It has now..

I think this has been swarming EK's FB page for a week or two now..

Sweet, got a mate who will be stoked to hear about this biggrin.gif

Hi,

I want to get an aftermarket cooler for my reference MSI 290 and from what I understand I have two choice the accelero iv or prolimatech mk26. The problem is neither offer decent cooling for the VRMs

Im getting mixed reviews some say Ill be fine other dont recommend it and clearly someone on here has gone the extent of making his own heatsink for the vrm's so Im going to go ahead and assume that without sufficient cooling neither will be a viable option.

My question is which heatsinks do I get?

They're not too bad. But with polishing, they really become gorgeous.

Performance ain't that bad either..

Yeah, not as good as AC with the Backplate, but still good.. thumb.gif

I made some VRM heatsinks for my R9 290 with AC Xtreme IV:
Sapphire R9 290 + Arctic Accelero Xtreme IV + VRM mod

But, If you're not feeling for making your own VRM heatsink, you could also consider combo:

CPU AiO cooler (such as Corsiar H55, ...) + NZXT G10 bracket + GELID Enhancement kit for AMD R9 290/290X

Yeh kudos to you for being able to manage that but its definitely not something I can manage

Would the gelid enhancement kit + ac iv/prolimatech be enough? Because at this point I might as well sell the card and buy one with an aftermarket cooler instad of spending that much money on cooling. Im not a hardcore overclocker so I dont need amazing temperature. Im just after lower noise for the time being.
Yes, It would be OK, but I'm not 100% sure, if that GELID VRM heatsink will fit between card and Accelero or Prolimatech (if GELID isn't too tall).
Maybe someone else can confirm that. wink.gif

If you choose Accelero, be sure, that you can fit that AC Xtreme IV in your PC, bigger CPU coolers can collide with that black backplate. Also installation is a little tricky, but that backplate helps the temps a little.
Prolimatech requires purchase at least two 120mm fans, so that would be more expensive choice.
Or, If you can sell your card for nice price, something like Sapphire Tri-X would also be a decent choice.
