It wouldn't be smart to pay $600+ for a video card and not read reviews and not know what you are getting yourself into.
The card was purchased and performed exactly as I expected. I never planed on keeping the stock cooling and I will never state that I think that the cooling system was adequate to do the job at a low noise level because it can't. My custom fan settings are keeping the card around 80°C but IS loud. People keep comparing other bad cards that are either louder or run hotter. The fact that other cards did it doesn't have anything to do with this card. I believe that this is an awesome card with a bad choice of a cooling setup. The cons weren't enough for me to wait for another version nor even bring it up. I only commented as I strongly disagree that this is a flawless design.
It's like buying a new car with what I consider small ugly rims. I can say that they should have come with better wheels but I'll upgrade them myself. err....forget about the car analogy as rims are just a personal preference.
If you want to sacrifice performance for low noise, put it on quiet mode. If you don't care about noise, put it on uber. The design is very good, it gives those who are wanting a silent card the option to have one, and those who are looking for maximum performance the option to have one. Without the 95c (which the card is designed to run at) the performance would be lower because clocks would be lower. This design allows both parties to have what they are looking for.
If you want quiet and maximum performance, then you're going to need water, simple as that. The cooler does its job. AMD didn't need to spend anymore money putting the best cooler they could find on it. Leave that to the 3rd party.Edited by Arm3nian - 11/7/13 at 11:40pm
