Custom BIOS. Or feeding it Volts.

Just picked up two 290's for $410 with blocks. I have been doing some benching, and at 1100/1350 I am getting a score of 17652, is this normal? If it is I probably should have just stuck with my 7970s that would hit 15800 at 1250/1700.

Well every card react to OCing differntly however its mostly caused by the card's memory chips samsung and hinyx are more capable of getting higher OC than the problematic elpida chip they tend to black screen even on stock settings and dont like to get OC more than 1350 , but as I say its all about the silicon lottery but samsung and hinyx can hit over 1500 mhz without a lot of tweaking .
You can try to bump the core volt / mem aux volt a bit and see if you can get your card stablized cause I'v seen cards with elpida chips running @ 1600 mhz.
Good luck.

Are you taking about firestrike bench or other app if you talk about firestrike then that one good result there .
Also benchmark actually dont reflect the gaming abilities of the cards. My cf 290s maxed @ 16120 pts around 24000+ in graphics running them @ 1200/1600.

Voltage. My RAM only does 1450mhz but can do 1650 whn I feed in 80mv~ of core voltage. So an overclock would be 1180/1650 at 80mv.

i read you are shooting for 4K, right? i think they have one with freesync now. i remember when the 4Ks came out that users where having issues with the dp cable. even the ones that came with the monitor. i've had mine for a year now and i like it.

i only have a tiny 28 inch but works fine even at the desktop . . .

maps in one of my games is hard to see . . .

It would be firestrike scores. I have been getting around 80 fps at 4k with settings on high and no AA

I'm unsure what you think is wrong...sites and everything looks fine to me...mine don't do that well as my elpidia memory on my second card doesn't like any speed over 1400...

I am out to swap my a 980TI (very good one) for 2-290s + $200. Anything to expect from ELPIDA memories?

My 290 with a Hynix is pretty good on the memory at 1700+ MHz.

My gigabyte r9 290 referent elpida mem under water ccan bench at 1300/1625mhz. 1625mhz is max after that system restarts wenn I apply 1626mhz with msi ab.
