Sick overclock, I see your board limit is only set to 25%, do you find this limits you? Why not set it to 50%?

Thinking about selling my 290..I have no use for it right now. I doubt however that i will get it sold here where i live and i will not sell it for a 'normal' price. Or i can sell the 980 ti and go back to the 290...decisions decisions

twice as fast and more vram. looks like an easy pick.

edit: your 290 is special, maybe 30% slower.

Yeah i know, but i like my 290 more tongue.gif. And it did everything i asked for. The reason why i got this 980 ti in the first place was because the price, got it for 637€. This 980 ti is also very whiny.

I sold my 980ti in a hope that I could grab a 290 that could match mine.

I traded it for two 290s and a bit of cash that could easily get me a third.

One of them is an unlockable (unlocked) 290X. And occured, damn, hard to find a 290 like mine. Much more Fyzz's. frown.gif

That thing smothers my 290X with a higher core clock in FS!

You gotta understand fyzz, some things are just hard to replicate. But I see that your 980TI is also good. (good anyway is common on 980TIs. Even my ref card does 1520/2040 some driver revs ago.)

Guys what are the recommended CPU- NB and HT settings for crossfire?
I also read its best to run dual rank 2400mhz RAM to ease any cpu bottlenecking that might occur due to bandwidth or am I misinterpreting

Do you think it's worth going from from a 280X to a used R9 290X Tri-X?

It should cost me 80-90 bucks if i sell my 280X. I was thinking about waiting for Greenland, but i doubt i will be able to get anything better than a 290X performance wise within the 250-300 bucks range.

R9 290/290X will probably be mid-high tier GPU's when Greenland launchs. Just like the 280X now.

Yes, I went from a 7950 1165/1300 to a 290x and could tell the difference

I went from a 7950(280) to a 290 and it was quite a jump in performance. So yes, it's definitely worth it. thumb.gif

You might was to consider upgrading your PSU at the same time though. 520w is barely enough for a 290x at stock clocks. Minimum I would recommend is a good quality 650w gold unit.

520W is enough for a R9 290X. Usually most of them have 8+6 pin. That means MAX 300W draw. I have no problems with a 280X wich should take already 250W easily at stock. I usually clock it at 1150 MHz . Never had a problem. Not even with a 3570K.

That said, damn. I should of have kept my 7950. I got it basically for free thanks to an RMA.Then i sold it and spent 70 bucks for this 280X. Wasn't a smart move. Trying to avoid doing something like that again,7950 to 7970 is like 10-15% more at max.

That means 7950 to 290X is like 35-45%. Meanwhile 7970 to 290X is like 25-30%. Oh well,i don't think i will buy anything better than a 290X performance wise even if i wait for Greenland.
