@Roboyto,

a second of blackscreen does happen on my systems both for oc'ing and setting back to default using Trixx. no hard locks, though.

Anyway, whats the max vcore voltage reported byafterburner/gpuz/ or any program ? With lets say +200mV trixx in fs.

I'm really baffled how the hell the default Win10 drivers got installed...DDU ran in safe mode, it booted to low resolution, I manually installed the 15.7 drivers, rebooted and checked it in CCC to make sure it said 15.7. the first time I ran 3DMark...

Double checked the auto update settings and they are definitely off
I ain't crazy :D (Click to show)
That settings doesn't work. Windows update still can update the drivers regardless the settings there.

Reran DDU and reinstalled drivers again...

Here's max values as shown in GPU-Z for Fire Strike
http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/9205561?

And 3DMark11

I see the abnormal temperature spiking/reading issue is still around

Another strange issue that has happened twice now is a blackscreen/hard lock when using the Reset Button in Trixx to return clocks/volts/pwr to default. Anybody else come across a problem like this?  @rdr09
@kizwan

About to uninstall and reinstall Trixx to see if it changes anything

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
New version of Trixx is pretty alright it seems.  They have a hardware monitor built in now that is spot on with GPU-Z for readings.

One odd thing is I can't get the same clocks as before; 1295/1725 is now 1296/1724.  Overall score down slightly; graphics down, physics up.

Blackscreen/Hard lock problem is still present with the newest version of Trixx
Yeah, happened to me from time to time with Trixx too but so far so good with latest version. You can try closing the GPU-Z and any monitoring software prior clicking the reset button. This workaround worked for me I think.

By the way, the drivers that Windows 10 keep want to update is the AMD latest drivers which is currently 15.11 beta drivers (15.201.1151). DDU only temporarily prevent the windows update from updating the driver. Windows update still be able to auto-update drivers in the next boot. There's tool from Microsoft that can temporarily hide the update. It's temporary & I'm pretty sure when new update available, windows update will be able to auto-update the drivers.

Follow this steps:-
  1. Use DDU to disable auto-update & uninstall the drivers
  2. Install the drivers of your choosing (follow the on-screen instructions, including reboot if the installer ask it)
  3. Use this tool (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3073930) to hide the drivers update.

It wasn't spiking, it was just stuck at 1.25v. I assume since it was pretty much the same bios I wouldn't have to reinstall all the AMD drivers again but maybe that's the problem.
Did the memory running at max clock? I think this is the reason why.

Alright I'm back again!

Just wondering what people run their cards at voltage wise?

Right now I've got 1179/1450 stable with +94mv.. Should I put an ASUS Bios on and push further or just leave it?

Temps are in check, stays under 50c most of the time on the core/VRM's.

I run my 290X/8GB at 1090/ 1520 stable at stock volts. I have tried also with 1100/1520, but it gives me some artifacts in Firestrike and some games. I will try again with the Crimson Drivers which are said to have some performance improvements and using a DP cable as well, now that my Freesync Monitor is on the way.

Yeah I'm keen for Crimson drivers too!

@roboyto
For fixing the blackscreen caused by reset button in trixx
First decrease memory clock then press reset

The reason for this is that when U press reset button in trixx it first sets stock voltage then memory clock
Obviously stock voltage is not enough for your memory OC and it causes blackscreen
(Though you can set a middle clock for memory and that will never happen)

Yep, it's silly design. It applies voltage before clock speeds when it should be the other way around.

Yeah, I'm the crazy thermal pad guy lachen.gif   How'd the Fuji's work out for ya?  You use the extreme or ultras?

I will get to checking your BIOS voltage in a bit due to running into some new issues...

Trixx isn't allowing me to alter the RAM clocks too high now for some reason.  Anything over 1600 and Trixx errors out/crashes.

Decided to give AfterBurner a try...for whatever reason if 3DMark is open prior to AB, the computer hard locks...no black screen/BSOD or anything like that, but it is completely unresponsive requiring a physical reset.  At first it wouldn't hard lock until I actually clicked on AB to choose it as my primary window.  I decided to uninstall/download/reinstall both 3DMark and AB.  After doing so, the computer immediately hard locks when AB opens..I don't have to do/click on anything.

As strange as that was, I figured whatever...I'll just open AB first and then 3DMark.  First thing I noticed is AB only allows 1275/1625 for maximum clocks?  I'm not super familiar with AB because I've  always had issues with it, since my 4890, is that normal for the clock limitations?  I do have "Extend Official Overclock Limits" enabled in the options.

Maxed out the sliders for everything: volts, power limit, aux volts, core 1275/1625 memory.  Fire up FS and holy hell the artifacts!  Duh...only +100mV.  Toned the clocks down to 1200/1500 which has always been stable in Trixx @ 87mv 50% power.  It made it through FS, but the coil whine was equivocal or possibly worse than what Trixx would emit @ 200mV: http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/9206606?   Returned the aux voltage to stock and the coil whine was eliminated.

Turned RAM clocks up to max so 1200/1625 and FS ran flawlessly: http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/9206685?
Ran without flaw up to 1203 core; surpassing gave artifacts.

Gotta reboot to run that BIOS viewing program...

You are correct sir.  Default BIOS voltage @ 1.25V

Now time to try HIS iTurbo...which of course the download link through HIS website is currently inoperable...I've had enough BS for the day.  Going to go clean up the wiring in my HTPC...I'll be back later
I used Fujipoly Extreme Plus which are 14W/mK.
My results were Δ7C-Δ21C.
http://www.overclock.net/t/1576426/fujipoly-thermal-pads-vrm-insanely-low-temps-must-have-recommended/0_30
smile.gif

However I don't like my core temps...It can get to 60C with water temp of ~25C while running at about +200mV, 1200MHz.
With my old 295X2 and aquacomputer kryographics waterblock my temps would be ~50C maybe with this setup.
I think it's the ares3-EK waterblock's fault.

Anyway, my AB allows me 1625mhz mem max too. I also have "extended oc limits" ticked but it's still 1625....

here is HIS_iTurbo.rar

The one thing with Trixx is that it can do up to +200mv, whereas afterburner cannot.
Version 5.0 is rubbish as you can't manually enter clocks...

If anyone can show me how to get +200mv in afterburner that'd be great and I'd love you forever... tongue.gif

Anyway, just validated 1220/1500MHz on valley and got 68.3 Avg FPS which is nice.
