Has anyone with a 290, 290X, 390, or 390X hit any of the following? No tess tweaks....

16k graphics score in firestrike?
3500+ in Valley (extreme HD preset)
1900+ in Heaven (highest settings, 1080p)

16K FS, not a handful. You did hit it right? You know the other two. biggrin.gif

Imma try Heaven and Valley. I think I hit it 1600+ Heaven on Extreme? Do note, System Resolution scores higher. You need to specify 1080.

If you set the preset to extreme, that'll set everything at the highest values. Then set it back to custom, so you can change the resolution to 1920 x 1080.

I want to see 1900.....

For Firstrike, I did hit 16.1k, but....it was a fluke. Graphics test 2 glitched, screen flashed, and kept running. It inflated the score....I can't count that. My high without any glitches is 15.7k.

Is it me or is my graphic card like to run in the 94C? I have the following setups . test I am using is heaven didn't post a result yet.

2x120mm top fan intake
1x120mm top rear fan exhaust
1x120mm button fan intake
1x140mm rate fan exhaust
1x200mm front fan intake
2x120mm internal support fans to help move more air from the 200mm.

Lol a lot of fans not sure if this case doing justice all I know the two inner fans have 74.x cfm @ 2k ram.

Do you have a pic or a drawing, as to where these fans are exactly located?

Are your two top fans right next to each other? One exhaust, one intake?

As I already said, you need a lot of exhaust for dual Hawaii. I wouldn't even consider anything less than two top exhaust and one rear exhaust, then adjust the intake to your liking.

I looked into this a little for you, and yes to your earlier question. "Is it me or is my graphic card like to run in the 94C?" was your question smile.gif.

I looked at a few reviews and posts about that card and all of them showing it running at 80-90c with almost Performance mode fan speed in a test bench must less a case.

I will preface this part by saying that I do not air cool, I haven't in a very long time, I dont even own a Air cooler for CPUs. Just FYI so if you want to take this with a grain of salt.

That card has a bad rap for a reason, It should NOT have been aircooled, no other 295x2 is air cooled there is a reason that AMD water cooled the reference. You are seeing that reason right now.

All that said I have a few ideas for you, Take the heat sink off and reapply good thermal paste, if your brave enough use conductive paste like CLU/CLP. Make an aggressive fan profile (by aggressive I
mean 100% at load its going to be very loud but that is the only way to get that card even remotely cooled)

You have tried a lot as far as case cooling it is obvious the issue is not your case, that card should have never been made on air (however that is just my opinion and as a WCer it may be bias, thats why the preface).

Here is a review for ya, http://www.guru3d.com/articles-pages/powercolor-radeon-290x-295x2-devil13-review,27.html. They have the same temp issues and they do not even have it in a case.

Here is the issue you are having "Is not as loud as many make them to be" They are as loud as people make them out to be you most likely have in quiet mode, and dont have a fan curve capable of cooling the card. If your card is hitting 95c your fans are no where near fast enough. When you make those fans at the speed they need to be to cool that thing it will be a jet engine.

I see the tip/advice and info is much appreciated. What is the safe temp zone and were to stay away from on this card? As soon I remove the side panel temps went from 89C to 82C in a mater of a minute or so on stock profile settings. I am thinking if I got a case such as a Cooler Master HAF XB EVO (HAF XB Rev. 2) that has holes on the side my provide the good amount of air to the card. Just a though I am checking dimensions on that case at the moment.

I did notice the air is coming out of the gpu hitting the side panel and getting pulled back in to the graphic card. So I need to figure out a way to make sure that air doesn't come back to the graphic card.
