It's voltages on BIOS seems pretty solid.
What do you guys think about Gpu-z log on Heaven4.0 at 100% gpu use?
12V line drops to 11.88V;

That 12v drop seems fine so I think the psu is okay. The reviews I read said it had the 12v rail running at 11.15 when it was brand new.

Good PSUs are always "Overpriced" because they are good, IMO the thing you never ever ever cheap out on is a PSU you are asking for trouble. You have to think if the PSU frys it takes out all of your hardware with it, always spend more and buy a solid trusted power supply.

The thing is people run out and buy a 20 dollar power supply as it is an after thought. That 20 dollar power supply frys and destroys there GPUs and motherboard now they are out 1000s to save 100 dollars.

That is of course a worse case scenario and doesn't happen often but it does happen.

2) XFX R9 290X 8GB
3) Stock

Hopefully it's okay to ask here (if not please point me in the right direction if you don't mind) but what are some good aftermarket coolers for the R9 290X?
Right now I have a stock cooler and while it does it's job, things do get a little toasty and I'd like a little more overclocking headroom.
Preferably I'm looking for a self-contained unit that doesn't require me to have my own custom loop (because I don't have one yet)

Congrats - added thumb.gif Welcome to OCN, you came to the right place to ask your question as you see. biggrin.gif

Many PSUs are rebrands of a larger manufacturer.  Here's all the information/reviews about nearly every PSU you'll ever need:  http://www.realhardtechx.com/index_archivos/Page447.htm

That is the direct link to Corsair PSU's, but you can choose from nearly 100 different brands for a fantastic collection of information on any of them.

Here's a good look at a highly overclocked 290X and 4770k: http://www.overclock.net/t/1441118/290x-psu-power-output-tests/0_20#post_21156921

During normal benchmarking total system draw around 450-475W.  Furmark jumped up to 600W, but is obviously a worst case scenario.  If you are running a single card than a solid 650W PSU should be enough for nearly all scenarios, with the exception being a highly overclocked/volted FX 8-core CPU where you would probably want something a little larger.

Antec, Corsair, EVGA, Rosewill, Seasonic...there are lots of choices and in the 650W range you can spend around $100 and get something very nice and reliable with a a good warranty; 5-10 year warranty.

For $85 this would be a very solid choice with a 10 year warranty:

I agree PSU should be the cornerstone.
If Corsair makes the best PSU I have no problem in buying one. I just don't want to be caught on "go-with-the-flow" marketing. tongue.gif

You're welcome.

I wouldn't say they make the best PSU's indefinitely, as they have had some hiccups here and there, but generally speaking you won't be disappointed with one of their units.  They do have very good customer service which can be worth the entry premium if something does happen to go wrong.

Do a little reading of reviews from reputable sources and you will probably be OK.  If you're still unsure, just ask and someone will likely be able to tell you if you're making a mistake or not.

I agree PSU should be the cornerstone.
If Corsair makes the best PSU I have no problem in buying one. I just don't want to be caught on "go-with-the-flow" marketing. tongue.gif
Well, I'll read the review.wink.gif
Now desktop image started to turn-off and on from time-to-time. doh.gif
The TV doesn't do this when input by other device like cable decoder.worriedsmiley.gif

Ya, I honestly never knew seventeen made pc psus, there server psus are prety good but it would seem there desktop lines did not share the same quality and that caused there desktop line to be short lived.

Also just to be clear, I am not sure if the PSU is your problem, I would just make it a note to replace it either way.
