I'll look for Seasonic too. Probably a 850W so it'll give some room to overclocking wink.gif

Well, let's joining the club biggrin.gif

2) Powercolor R9 290x 4GB OC (Visiontek BIOS)
3) Water (Aquacomputer Kryographics Hawaii)

What would be the advantages in flashing Visiontek BIOS on a Powercolor board? Unlock voltage? More detailed report on GPU-z? confused.gif
Bought this card already with this BIOS flashed.redface.gif

Even a good 750W will work for just one gpu. save the rest for a cpu upgrade. my system with 2 290s only spiked to 689W in Firestrike when i was testing. Get a good cpu cooler too.

850W is borderline even for a crossfire setup of 290(X) depending on what kind of cooling, overclocks, and CPU you're running.  I've been on a 650W Rosewill Capstone for over 2 years and it has been perfect.  My 4770k runs at 4.5, benches up to 4.8, and my 290 runs at 1200/1500 and will bench up to 1300/1700; It's also powering 16GB 2400MHz RAM, water pump, 6 fans, 3 SSDs and 1 HDD.

If you plan on adding another card then a larger PSU will help you in the long run, otherwise 650-750W is plenty for a an overclocked single CPU/GPU setup.

Different voltage profile of some sort I would guess.  I believe VisionTek had a factory full cover waterblock card, the CryoVenom IIRC, maybe the previous owner flashed that BIOS to it.

@mus1mus tried 16.1.1 and nop, exact same probleme at boot (for me at least..)
Just to be sure, being an hotfix, does that mean that it need to be installed on top of 16.1 ? I doupt it
post #41747 of 43924
Roll back to 15.7.1 then. If you knew DDU, work it out first. Wipe Drivers and revert to 15.7.1

I won't recommend any 750W for a 290X CF setup.... I had an AX760i and suffered monitor signal losses, upgraded to the AX860i and all is well.

AMD Driver 15.11.1 (had to revert to older driver as Crimson gave me more frequent losses- DDU now my best friend)

Anyone experiencing this or experienced this?

So much from the OWNERS CLUB pfft! no one could point out that it may have been a power supply issue.

I didn't see your original post, but if you have ever ready any review of a 290(X)/390(X) then it would be fairly obvious that a 760W power supply is typically not enough for 2 of these cards.  I have seen many manufacturers suggest a 750W for 1 card.

Best bet for trouble free 290(X)/390(X) crossfire is a 1kW PSU.  That would allow solid overclocking of your CPU and both GPUs.

I did just notice that your cards are liquid cooled and you are not running an OC on CPU/GPUs.  If that is the case, then that platinum 760W PSU could potentially suffice.  I say this only because of the quality of those particular PSUs as they can be pushed pretty far past their rated output and still maintain functionality and fairly good efficiency.

I ran a 4790k @ 4.7GHz and a 290 @ 1075/1375 off of a 450W PSU for quite a while without any issues.

I think that your problem was the PSU, but not due to lack of power, but due to it being faulty since your issue was not during intensive loads.

Also, your tone is not necessary. It is not a good way to get anyone to answer your questions now or at a later date and time especially when your post count is 8.  This is a fairly popular thread and it moves quickly at times.  Due to this fact posts get buried or missed because not every member who is capable of answering questions and/or assisting with troubleshooting/problem solving is watching it 'all day every day'.

Now if you want to join the club, there is a format to do so.  Go to the OP(original post) and see what the criteria are to join.  Make a post with that information and you will be added.
