Well, after a tryst with a 79x0 Trifire, a completely reference R9 290 and attempting to like again the green team with a 780 Classy, i'm back into the red team with a R9 290X Tri-X. Now, all i need is for AMD to release the RX 490 (or w/e sucessor to the Fury X is) for me to get two.
The funny part is that i miscalculated the length of the card. I read on my case manual that a 12'' card would fit, but i kinda forgot i had a tube running on that side of the case, and when i tried installing the card, the tubing was on the way. Since then i love my quick disconnects even more xD
I need to find the time to disassemble this loop and put the card on water, i have an EK full block+backplate i sooo want to use.
Is there any reason why you populated memory like that? That is not the correct way btw. You should have 3 sticks on each side. Check the manual. On the left side, the first 3 leftmost
A1/B1/B2 slots & on the right side, the first 3 rightmost
C1/D1/D2 slots.Edit: correction.

That's not true (bolded). When the memory sticks installed according to the way I described above (before I make the correction above) they will run in quad-channel. It doesn't matter because I know now his slots are faulty.

But I'm pretty sure if we use the 3 leftmost slots on the left side & 3 rightmost slots on the right side, we still get it to run in quad-channel on x79 mobo...
...as long as the four blue/beige/red/dark_gray(black edition x79 ROG) & another pair in the two black slots are populated, it will run in quad-channel.
6 DIMMs: Supports six (6) modules inserted into four blue slots(P9X79 series) / beige slots(TUF series) / red slots(ROG series) and one pair of black slots(P9X79 series; ROG series) / brown slots(TUF series) as three pairs of Quadchannel memory configurations. Install the modules into slots A1/B1/B2/C1/D1/D2 for better compatibility
