2x hd 6870's and my CPU question.

Thread Starter
Well I'm gonna start by saying I'm trying to decide on my next upgrade. Tryin to figure out the cheapest route to start now. I have a phenom 2 x4 965 BE CPU w a CM hyper n520 cooler, asrock 890gx pro3 mobo, 16gb vengeance ram and 2 hd radeon 6870's. I don't know if I should upgrade my CPU and cooler and then later mobo. Or just upgrade my graphics card. Any help and or advice is greatly appreciated smile.gif. Oh and I usually have my 965 OC'd to around 3.8ghz.

I sold my 2 6870's last year and replaced them with 7970, the 7970 is faster than those two cards. I would sell 6870's and get a r9 280x or used 7970. That cpu is probably good enough to pull the 7970, good luck.

even at stock, that phenom 965 is enough to push an HD7950, give or take 5 fps compared to overclocking it.
If you can spend more, go for HD7970

Thanks for all the input guys smile.gif. Yea I usually have my 965 OC'd to around 4-4.2ghz. I need to get it back up to that just need to get a new cooler. And yea I may just spring for a new video card smile.gif. I guess it's down to do you think it would be best to spend the extra cash and get a r9 280x? Or just a 7970
