Well I just saw that Newegg had the ASUS MATRIX-R9280X and it's now sold out. So while I'm waiting for them to get it back in stock so I can order it from them. I thought I would ask my fellow Overclockers if anyone has purchased the card and how they like it in comparison to their previous GPU setup? Feel free to go the pros and cons route if you like.

If you want post your builds and Firestrike ratings that would be cool too. smile.gif

1,175V running 1100/6600 in CF mode on ASRock Z77 WS. I'm not OCing as Top card will get over 90 degress in stress.
Top card temp in stress is up to 85 degrees
Bottom card temp in stress 70 degrees

FireStrike results: http://www.3dmark.com/fs/1033751
3DMark11 results: http://www.3dmark.com/3dm11/7360942

Not very satisfied with drivers (13.11 V1/V3), FramePacing makes the games completely unplayable.

Also please be aware of this issue:

It happened once or twice on my cards too. Citing
" This "elite", factory-overclocked and overvolted card have idiotic heatsink design what leaves 4 of 12 memory chips uncooled at all."

I can confirm that 4 chips are left with totally no cooling.

Good for posting the issue with the memory chips, I just found this out today, I have a Matrix 7970 P, and it does artifact when pushed, thinking of how to add some dyi heatsinks on them.

biggrin.gif Thanks for the post. I was chatting with a buddy of today about the R9290X. And he was saying that the new chip set was advertised to run at 90 degrees. (Yeah I know I was a little baffled too.) I wonder if the R9280X has the same normal running conditions.

I actually managed to get
1,25V 1175GPU 1725MEM but temps are getting too high for CF smile.gif

As for max temps. I haven't found a thing about it. I have no idea what is safe temps for these, I just try not to get over 90 deegres biggrin.gif
