Cheapest HD 7970 you have ever seen? - Page 2

Maybe you should consider going 280x, it's cheaper than most 7970.

For some reason i forgot to mention that the price is 200 canadian dollars :d

And about the Asus's quality. From what I've heard so far: the card's cooler is too heavy it might twist the PCB?

I think there was some kind of problem with ASUS DirectCU II 7970 early revisions.

At 200$ is it best to pull the trigger now? Or Prices might go down even more soon with the R9 series fully introduced ?

Asus cards typically are solid and do a decent job of performing over time. However, when buying one, mentally resign yourself to the fact that you don't get a warranty with it. Seriously just consider it a given that they're not going to stand behind ANYTHING. Motherboards, GPUs, anything.

Their customer service is so terrible that it goes beyond trash. It's insulting to talk to them and I loathe every minute of it the rare occasion I've had to.

I stick with other brands. Not specifically MSI, Gig, etc, but really just ANYTHING other than Asus.

Thank you coachmark2. That is some valuable info. I've never bought an ASUS component before or have I ever had a broken component (from any brand) in my system so I really don't know what to say about that. But is was good to know.

I dont understand the hate for ASUS RMA. They have a phone number, and a human answers...and helps you with the RMA process (they sent me a brand new in box card). Most companies, if they even have a published number, bury it deep in their RMA process behind two weeks of online "tickets".

With that said, I was not particularly blown away with the product. They have their hands in so many product lines, I would imagine the QC is probably hit or miss from pure volume X variety.

Asus RMA is usually a mix up from the posts I've read here in OCN. Sometimes it's a quick and painless process, sometimes it's a war and the customer ends up not getting ANY replacement.

As others have mentioned, make sure the card is working perfectly before you purchase it, though that is a pretty good price for a used 7970 considering most of them go for about $250 used.

Yah i think so too the price is the only thing making me consider buying the card.

I always ask for proof video before buying the card so I'll make sure it's is working just fine. thumb.gif
