Upgrading home network setup

Thread Starter
Hey guys I was looking for some help with upgrading my home network setup. Im pretty tech savvy and have been building computers for years, but when it comes to networks I am retarded and they always turn out to be a huge PITA.

Basically I want advice on what to get and how to set up a new network. At the moment I have a Cisco modem/wifi router combo connected to a Dlink green switch. All my ethernet cables are new cat6.

Im looking to connect 2 wired home pc's a few tablets/phones and a ps3/ps4 and xbox 360.

Im looking for a very secure setup and very fast as well. Price is not much if an issue but I would rather not spend a lot of money, also I have a Asus RT-N16 Wireless Router sitting around with DDWRT on it if I can use that.

Thanks guys!

Just get this one and you should be set for years! http://www.asus.com/Networking/RTAC68U/
Good range, great speed and plenty of security options for a typical home setup. Highly recommend it.

What models of equipment do you currently have? That's pretty vague.

I have the Asus n66u and I absolutely love it (one model older I think). It is the easiest networking device I have ever used. The WPS button is hard to beat! thumb.gif
