Slow monitor start

Thread Starter
I own a Gigabyte P55A-UD7 with an ATI Radeon HD 5770. Regardless of whether it is a cold or warm boot my monitor is delayed 2 - 3 seconds after the PC is turned on. Basically, I get a flicker of the BIOS.

Any ideeas. Thanks.

You can change how long the BIOS screen shows for in the settings, if you want the BIOS message to show for longer.

If I need to enter the BIOS, I can just press the DEL key 100 times. What I want to know is what causes this? On my old motherboard (p5kpl/1600) this never happened; monitor started instantly.

I as said its a motherboard Setting, these change from board to board and can be configured to how you like in the BIOS startup settings.

I understand what you've said but this a different problem. It takes about 3 seconds for my monitor to start and don't know why. The monitor in question is a Benq GW2255. It starts in less than a second on my old dual core pc.
I've reset the BIOS and made sure primary graphics are set to PEG.
