Custom loop R9 290X (Advice needed)

Thread Starter
Hey guys

So I haven't touched custom loops in years, but with the launch of the 290x I think its time to get back into it.
Unfortunately I am based in South Africa, so we really don't get much in the way of watercooling parts.

I want to watercool my main sig rig. So cpu block and then a single 290x.
As far as the block goes for the 290X I have already placed an order for this

What would you guys recommend for the cpu, considering I want to be able to push it to 4.8Ghz.
I'd also like to know what rads and fans you would recommend.

Most of the parts will be coming from http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/index.php

Will be built into a corsair 750D

Hello!

For CPU block I would recommend the XSPC Raystorm, it is the king of the hill now.
EK Supremacy is also a very good waterblock, which I would personally choose because I like the looks better heh.

For radiator the XSPC RX series are perhaps the best you can get, they offer extremely good performance even with low RPM fans. It's essentially the best radiator with fans at 1200rpm or less.

Pump I would recommend the Laing D5/Swiftec D5 (same pump), but get the one with speed control. Really strong and reliable pumps, and the only one I will use personally.

Fans I would recommend the 120mm Scythe Gentle Typhoons, get the 1850rpm together with a fan controller. They got very good pressure, so they are excellent for radiators. They are built in a way that the noise they make is not so annoying to the human ear, very reliable and can be used on everything. Perhaps the best fans on the market and no doubt worth the price.

Best of luck smile.gif
