What CPU for under 100$/€ ?

Thread Starter
Well, its purpose is not for gaming or maybe just a little bit. Mainly multimedia stuff like watching Hi-Res videos, simultanously extracting some archive, copy something onto an external, stuff like that. Also CAD, like Solidworks...but I read that the benifits from multicore CPUs are marginal. Maybe Photoshop stuff also, but no video rendering.

Candidates:

- Intel Pentium G3420

- Intel i3-4130

- AMD FX-6300

- AMD A10-6800K

Well, I am totally out of tune and the vast possibilities are making it difficult to choose.
The Intel CPUs as I looked into some benches are very effective in terms of performance-powerconsumption, the AMDs not so much.
If I were into gaming, budget, it would have been clearly the Intel CPUs.
But with the multicores of the AMD FX-6300 I assume that it will handle multitasking significantly faster.

The A10-6800K is something I put into the list because the integrated graphics solution seems to be decent enough to run let's say Dota2. I wonder if you can turn this unit off if there is a dedicated solution installed? Or does it further consume some power even though not in use?
I wonder if the crossfiremode with let's say a 7790 will boost it enough to be attractive.

Also let's not forget the different plattforms with different chipsets...

Socket FM2 - Socket AM3+ - Socket 1150

Which plattform will still get some future CPUs with multicores so that one can upgrade in a few years?
I think Socket FM2 is a dead end.

Right now I tending towards the Pentium G3420 actually, because it is very power-saving and it only costs around 50-60 buckets.
And with the Socket 1150 it offers the possibility to upgrade to a future quadcore CPU which will hopefully be very energy efficient.

What do you say?

AMD FX-6300
Socket AM3+

FM2 is dead.
Those intel CPUs wont do any good in rendering.
Yes the 6800K has a good integrated GPU but FM2 is a dead socket.
If you do rendering you are going to need a dedicated GPU at least.
