Honestly, I'm not impressed or disappointed but then I'm not in the market for the highest of end cards either, I will say I like the competition of brands in this gen.
I will chip in on my
on the card though.
The heat and power would be my biggest concerns(if I were to buy it) as I live in particularly hot place during the summer (the winter would be great for the heat this card gives off and my room is alread the hottest in the house xD) and my electric bill tends to be on the high side during this time so I probably would be in the market for a 80+ gold PSU. I don't watercool as quite frankly I don't trust myself to do it nor do I have the money for it anyway so I would be waiting however many months for the non-reference cards with miles better cooling solutions
Performance wise I'm quite pleased to see it trade blows with the Titan at half the cost and the 780 for $100(USD) less but I'm also aware of how old each of those cards are and frankly I'm not sure if it's too little too late(I know some of you already think it is) or if it's AMD working on their own time and not worrying themselves with Nvidia launches, which could be argued as good or bad. OC wise I'm excited to see what can be done by OCNers on water with these cards as I know they have unlocked voltages and water is much better than air cooling especially against a reference cooler, which I think the design of is pretty cool looking but aye that's me.
All said, I like competition as it breeds better performance/quality from both sides (though that 290x ref cooler is terrible for temps) and I look forward to the benches, comparisons and future cards. However not excited at all for the brand vs brand attitudes and fanboying that will rear it's head in the coming weeks. Edited by NinjaToast - 10/24/13 at 3:16pm
