Windows 8.1, is it really worth the upgrade?

Thread Starter
I've been using Windows 7 Pro for about 2 years and it's been solid without any real issues. So saying that would anyone recommend upgrading to Win 8.1? I know there's threads about this, but I wanted to make my own because I'm not in the mood to search 500 pages of other threads today. So make your argument and points please. thumb.gif

I wouldn't spend any money on it.

I am using 8.1 but don't really notice that much of a difference from 8. It pisses me off they 'brought back the start button' but it doesn't do jack crap other than just open Metro again..

Ever since I upgraded to 8.1 I cannot watch netflix any longer. When I have time I'm gonna go back to 8.

I wouldn't buy 8.1 a lot of little things that are more of annoyances then anything. I like 8 and switched to 8.1 and don't like it.

Good thing I won't upgrade then. I'll save me some cash for my rig. It's running fine! So Windows 8.1 is useless to upgrade compared to Windows 7? Thanks man!

If you have Windows 7 and are happy with it then stick with it. Especially if you don't have a touch device, as Windows 8 is truly a "touch first" device, meaning the interface was designed first with touch in mind, then with mouse and keyboard.
If you had to use Windows 8.1 you could make it work on a desktop or laptop, but if you don't have a touch interface I would argue it is not worth spending money to switch. The few small features added are not worth putting up with that interface and the closed Metro side. I realize that is not true for everyone, but I have used Windows 8 and 8.1 now and it just does not work the way I want it to.

For what 8.1 upgrades costs now, I don't think it is worth upgrading. I got my Win 8 upgrade for $30 so it was worth it, but the improvement is not worth 4X that price.
