so this is my first time building a computer, i installed my graphics card and when i was looking at the one cable. it had 2 6+2 pci e.

now do i use the single cable that has 2 of the 6+2. or do i have to another cable for 1 each 8pin connector

i hope this makes sense.

I'm PRETTY SURE (not certain) using the one cable will be fine, I do for my 6970 but that's at a much much lower power level

EDIT: As below you definitely will need to populate all the sockets, i'm talking about the cable

You need to populate all the power connections on the card. Whether that's using two 6+2 connections and an 8 pin or all 6+2 connections, it also doesn't matter if it looks like two 6+2 come from a single bundled cable.

There's only one way to find out thumb.gif

From experience underpowering a GPU doesn't damage it, just power the machine on and run a full system benchmark with your current configuration and check online, if you're within 5%+/- then you'll be on the right track
