[Overclockers] AMD Radeon R9 290 performance revealed - Page 4

This seems to be the card that is going to sell well. Just under 290x performance for around $400-450? Might have to rethink my plan of ordering 2 280x's.

Yeah, sorry dude, but that argument only works if AMD prices their cards the same way nVidia has priced theirs.
I don't see how you can complain about what AMD has done. At bare minimum, they are going to force nVidia to lower the prices so you can SLI your ACX for a lower price if wanted...

I only see this as a positive impact on the market for all of us.

I'm seeing a lot of people expressing regret in this thread. I was about to buy a 290X to replace my 6970s, but I decided to have some fun and just add two more. I'll catch a 290 or 290X when prices drop some or the lower VRAM ceiling causes too much stutter in BF4.

You can disregard this whole thing because they ARE being payed by AMD. Its a Shop not a impartial review site.

Two words:

Refuse delivery.  Purchase a R9 290, pocket the cost and then buy two EK water blocks.

They might be a shop but they are one of the most enthusiastic bunch of people in this game, ive been to their shop, and nothing else in the UK compares, they have an excellent forum for help and advice. If they posted this info then im inclined to believe it and id advise fellow people on ocn to believe there results

So this is how it goes
290x - for enthusiast (watercooled OC)
290 - for high end performance (plug and play, a little bit tweaking)

Imagine a Vapor X cooler or a Matrix platinum running this card at 1100Mhz priced at 480-500$ biggrin.gif
What I want to know is will it reach 95c on reference just like its older brother?

It all depends if they will still use the same cheap blower on it... im hoping not or we will have to wait for custom designs ..
