Non Rackmount NAS/SAN case?

Anyone using a standard tower case for their home SAN/NAS? I'm not in a position to use rack mountable hardware yet (until I buy a home in a few years) so I'm looking to build my storage server in a standard mid/full tower case. I'm starting off with 8 x 3.5" drives but will need the space/internal mounting ability to go up to 14-16 drives in the next few years. I don't need room for much else as the rest of my build is just a Micro ATX case and an HBA (not add-in graphics card).

Is anyone using a lot of 3.5" hard drives in a standard ATX tower case?

I'm looking at the Corsair 750D (buying 2 extra hard drive cages) which would allow me to fit 12 drives off the bat with an additonal 5 in the 5.25" bays down the line if need be. However I've heard conflicting reports on the quality of the case. I'll have a lot of drives in this baby and don't want it vibrating like crazy.

afaik no tower cases offer that many hard drive bays as standard also you'll run into the issue of actually connecting all the drives without seriously impacting airflow.

Why not have 2 NAS? would allow for better speeds as you'd be getting files from two servers rather than one, would probably also be cheaper raid card wise depending on exactly how you are doing things
