I prefer that. With the blue and red models, which are cheaper than the white, the paint on the heat sink doesn't quite match the paint on the fans. Aesthetically, I prefer the D14 bullets on top over the TC14PE plates. The plates themselves are fine, but I don't like the

One advantage to doing so much reading up on these behemoth coolers, I became aware of ram clearance issues and got Crucial Ballistix Sport VLP ram. They're shorter than the retention tabs... This hopefully will enable me to orient the TY 143s with longer axis vertical, to provide clearance for a side mounted 140mm fan. Even this way I think it will barely clear.

The Phanteks is the better cooler by a few degrees at best plus it looks better. Aesthetic quality control is a miniscule amount less though , seeing how some have gotten kinked heatpipes , uneven paint at the base of the heatpipes, and such.

i've had the d14 for over a year, everything about it is awesome. The packaging and the build quality are top notch...the mounting system is fantastic and also they sent me a free bracket which I needed. It is also almost inaudible, the only negative of course for some people is the size and ram compatibility...tall ram heatsinks wont fit...get low profile.
