Difference between HDD Dock Stations vs HDD Duplicator Docks

Quick question!

I'm looking at these two products at the moment

1 - StarTech.com USB 3.0 Hard Disk Drive Duplicator Dock

2 - StarTech.com SuperSpeed USB 3.0 to Dual 2.5/3.5in SATA Hard Drive Docking Station

I was initially looking for a simple HDD dock station and randomly came across the HDD Duplicator,
my question is if I could purchase the Startech USB 3.0 Duplicator and use it like a normal HDD External docking station for everyday use ? wheee.gifwheee.gifwheee.gif

Anyone knows ?

What I need to know before ordering the product is if I could use the USB 3.O HDD duplicator like a normal HDD Dock station for a long period during the day without it affecting the hard drives,
it's slightly cheaper than a normal docking station and it's a duplicator, if it does the same job as a dock station then it makes sense to go with the duplicator.

I just need someone to help confirm this for me please,

According to the description it will work like that.

The SATDOCK22RU3 USB 3.0 to SATA Hard Drive Duplicator Dock can be used as a standalone SATA hard drive duplicator, or as a USB 3.0 SATA hard drive docking station, enabling you to duplicate/clone an existing hard drive without the use of a host computer system or access docked hard drives as though they were installed within the computer system.

That's what been confusing me the most!
I don't understand why it's cheaper, I mean why would anyone buy their SATA hard drive docking stations when they could buy their Duplicator for a few $ cheaper. I guess I might have to call their customer service to find out,

I appreciate you taking the time to reply back,
Thank you smile.gif
