trying to get a graphics card to fit

Thread Starter
I have a size issue with my case and new graphics cards.
My motherboard is asus m4a88td m
Can i put a gpu in the 2nd pcie 16 slot or is that slot working at a lower value for crossfire only? (I cant remember the details and the product page at asus isnt working)
That way i could take out the hard drive bay and the card would fit under the 5.25 bays.
I think the msi 280x would fit in the 1st slot but id rather have a sapphire toxic.

According to the specs on this board there is only 1 pcie x16 slot and it's the second from the top. If ur talking about that one it's the only slot a gpu should fit. Wich gpu do y have

http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/M4A88TDV_EVOUSB3/ is your board if this is your sig rig?

you should be able to use the second pcie slot but i would try to get it to work in the first slot if you can according to asus spec the first slot is 16x and the second slot is 4x however it looks like the second slot is wired for 16x from looking at the back of the pcb so it maybe able to do 16x when a card is not in the first slot

you could always test and see by puting a card in the second slot with out any in the first slot and see if it runs at 16x instead of 4x
