Razer Starcraft II sensitivity switch not responding

The sensitivity switch on the surface underneath the chassis of the mouse does not change sensitivity to the stages delineated in the software when in the Windows 8.1 desktop. I can change the current dpi in the software and apply it, but it will not change the active sensitivity based on the hardware switch. "Enable on-the-fly sensitivity on-screen display" is checked. I set an application for the profile to Killing Floor to see if it would vary by application. It would not respond to hardware switch changes or display sensitivity changes in the application either.

The macro recorder does not register side button presses, but that's a separate issue.

*opens a tiny door set in the wall of the stage backdrop*

'Well it's obviously a male mouse. Make it sleep on the couch over night and don't touch it again till it apologizes'

*slams tiny door shut*
[sounds of feet running away]

honestly though I don't think i've ever seen a sensitivity switch that DID work. IMHO the whole thing is a marketing scam.

Not sure about this particilar mouse, but many mice use cheaper switches for the sensitivity button. They tend to fail way before the other switches. Is the problem only in Windows 8? Does the sensitivity work on another PC?

I had a completely different hardware setup with Win7, and the switch did nothing in that scenario. It is new--it's more likely a firmware or software failure.
