Disks not visible in disk manager but are visible in device manager

Thread Starter
I moved a 5 3TB WD green storage pool from my windows server 2008 R2 box which was the host for storage server 2012 which created the pool. The disks are now in a new server 2012 R2 datacenter box which will host the server 2012 R2 VM serving as a ISCSI server. The problem I am having is the disks are not visible in disk manager, diskpart or windows explorer. They are however listed under disks in device manager how can I get them accessible? I would really like to not reformat since they are the back pool for all of my media.

Um do you have the the drive labeled?
I just ran into the problem myself and thought I lost over 200gb of games but my partition wasn't labeled so it wouldn't show up anywhere. But once I labeled it, there it was. tongue.gif

I can't see it in disk manager so there is no way to label the partition. It only shows up in device manager and the only option there is to update drivers or scan for hardware changes and neither does anything. Thanks

Have the drives been added to a Storage Space pool and removed without destroying the pool? I had this happen to a drive recently and I though it was just bad. devmgmt could see it, BIOS could see it, but disk management couldn't until I popped it into a Windows 8 PC. I got a popup in the System Tray about a Storage Space pool and it told me that the drive was removed from a Storage Space pool and I was then able to remove the pool.

Another option as descirbed above, would be diskpart.

CMD
DiskPart
List Disk
Select Disk X
Clean
Exit

That will completely wipe all partitions/volumes/MBR/GPT from the drive.

I figured it out I had to go to server manager and storage pools and wait a little while for it to load and there it was with my VHD's and all. Just to point it out though I said in the OP that I tried diskpart and the disks are not listed. Thanks.
