Requesting assistance with APU overclocking, and cooling options for Bitfenix Prodigy build...

Hello OCN.

I recently built a rig for my wife (actually she built it herself with guidance [me], I just picked out the guts) and have run into some snags with the CPU cooler and GPU performance that are less than ideal.

CPU: Richland A10-6800K
Motherboard: http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4611&dl=1#ov
Cooler: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103182&Tpk=cooler%20master%20t4
Case: Bitfenix Prodigy w/5.25" bay occupied w/blue-ray drive.
RAM: 2x4 Ripjaws (2133-10-11-11)

Long story short.. That CPU cooler doesn't work in this application (wrong orientation, doesn't clear RAM when mounted the direction it is designed for etc).

I'm looking for good options under $50 that do a "sideways" "AMD-socket" mount, OR, an up-draft or down-blow cooler that is known to fit (orientation options should be easier in this case).
If you have insight into successfully fitted cooling solutions in the prodigy case on AMD sockets I am all ears.

I want to use turbocore as part of an OCing goal so that the chip will scale back speed when the load goes parallel. Insight into the use of turbo core as part of an overclocking strategy is welcome. I would like the maximum power consumption under parallel workloads to be "held back" to prevent overheating the VRMs, but I would like to get some tweaked single threaded performance (5GHZ turbo possible with "stock" speeds 4.1ghz base?).

I have spent a short time exercising the CPU/GPU in a game: (supreme commander 2). I'm disappointed in the APU in this case. I did think this would play this game with acceptable performance. Every graphical setting at minimum or off and the GPU is still choking once the game gets fairly complicated with more units/effect/explosions etc. The CPU is proving to be pretty decent here (it's easy to distinguish CPU and GPU bottlenecks in this game if you know what to look for). With that said, I am looking for insight into the tweaking of the integrated GPU AND the oh-so-important RAM performance. I wonder if there is a way to improve performance via tweaking enough to get this title more playable.

Any information or links that could prove helpful regarding safe voltages, what to tweak, what to leave alone, and the general ins-n-outs of the APU overclocking strategy would be very helpful. I'm especially interested in research related to the iGPU performance related to memory speeds, timings, and north-bridge speed.

Thank you,
Eric

Managed to get a stable clock speed established on the stock cooler that works well. I discovered that this chip has a lot to give on the cpu side below stock voltage settings.

IIRC it's running ~1.30V CPU core, but still managing 4.2/4.6 on the clock. It's making less heat now than it did default, which has opened up room to run the iGPU/NB @1.2GHZ/2.2GHZ with 1.33V. The G-skil RAM is also running stable at 2400-10-11-11 w/1.65V. This configuration of speeds has improved the performance of the GPU by 10-40% over stock depending on the situation. I also updated to a newer kernel for the build (3.10.xx), and went with wine1.6 instead of 1.4. Once got everything up and running again, the performance with the new hardware settings and software was notably better.

I'm still looking for help picking out a cooler for this cpu as this one does get loud when the load is heavy (but temps stay in check now with the lower voltage). Any ideas would be appreciated.
