Problems Connecting 3 Displays to 7950 Via Club3D MST Hub

Sorry for the wall of text and thanks in advance for the help.

Problem
So the problem I am having is connecting 3 Samsung SA850 (2560 x 1400) monitors to a Club3D SenseVision MST Hub. Basically neither windows or catalyst control center will let me activate my 3rd display. They both detect the display mostly correct though.

When trying to activate my 3rd display through the windows screen resolution manager I get a "The display settings could not be saved. Please try a different combination of display settings" error. Using the Catalyst Control Center I get "To extend the desktop, a desktop or display must be disabled" error.

Attempted Fixes
So far I have tried: switching from windows 8.1 preview to 8.1 Pro, using the whql certified 13.9 driver, 13.11 beta driver, different combinations of connections, lowering the resolution on the 2 connected displays before adding the 3rd. I just keep getting the same errors.

Additional Info
I know that my GPU supports 3 displays because I can run all 3 if I connect one into a different port.

I think the problem may be related to my GPU detecting that my displays can do 75hz @ 1024 x 1280, and thinking it can do that at 2560 x 1440 (that would be awesome though). Even though it seems to think it can run at 75hz, it will only allow me to do 60hz at 1440p. Below is an image of my Catalyst Control Center's DisplayPort Diagnostics.

The reason I want to run 3 off the mst hub is because I am considering replacing getting a R9 290X and upgrading to 6 display eyefinity (should make a decent replacement for my old tv). Will need to get 3 screens off the display port in order to connect all 6.

System
My GPU is a Gigabyte 7950, I'm running a fresh install of windows 8.1 (15 minutes old), and 13.11 beta drivers for win 8.1 x64.

Is this the first time your setting this up or has this worked for you before?

Try one monitor in one of the two mini diplayports on the card and the other two on the mst hub.

Not sure but you may need a display port to dual link dvi adapter. Try the first suggestion to see if that helps.

same issue....

I purchased 2x MSI 280x for crossfire.

Each card has 1x DVI-D, 1x HDMI and 2x MiniDisplay ports.

My main monitor is connected via DVI, secondary via DVI through MiniDisplay adapter.
I'm running them in "extended desktop mode"

Whenever I connect my tv via HDMI and try to set it as "duplicate my secondary screen" it wont let me and gives me an error.
""The display settings could not be saved. Please try a different combination of display settings" "

any ideas how to fix this

Your 280x is essentially a 7970 with a shared single link to the HDMI. Try both dp and the dvi. You will need active displayport to dvi or HDMI adapters.

So is your adapter not working? Can you get it to work on its own?

Also my problem is trying to hook 3 2560 x 1400 monitors into this

It appears to not be possible though. Looks like max 1440p monitors off a displayport 1.2 mst hub is 2. (chart on page 5)

Its still working with the handicaps of the of the 7970. Most 280x are just rebadged 7970s. Only a few AIB decided to use the revised and better Eyefinity video output connectors with a few more tweaks and new pcb design. I know the Asus DC2T has this but most others are just facsimiles of the old custom and reference 7970 designs. Even the reference design left a lot to be desired of forcing users to buy expensive adapters and cables.

here's the new setup on some 280X and the 290/290X cards:

CREATOR: gd-jpeg v1.0 (using IJG JPEG v62), quality = 95
CREATOR: gd-jpeg v1.0 (using IJG JPEG v62), quality = 95
CREATOR: gd-jpeg v1.0 (using IJG JPEG v62), quality = 95

The two d-dvi and hdmi are no longer shared (or single link dvi) so it works like Nvidia Surround (it was about time they went to something that works and its simple).

He needs an active display port to dvi to make the 3rd monitor/tv play with the other two.

Well, looks like you found your answer. I had known more then three screens (not counting "accessory monitors") were limited in to 1200. Most of the 5x1 and 2x3 Eyefinity setups are using 1080 and a few 1200 ones. My new incoming cards have four dp so I'll use two of them for two screens and one of them to run the hub and three screens for 6000x1920.

Glad you found the answer and shared with us thumb.gif
