[Solved] HDMI input for desktop

post #1 of 3
Thread Starter
I'm looking for a way to connect a HDMI device into my computer. I don't care about recording or anything like that, but I am just looking to be able to display the image across my computer monitors (using eyefinity) with minimal lag.
Playing the sound through my computer is also essential to this because most of the time I will be using this to play Wii U.
I have been looking for information about video capture cards (I think they might be what I am looking for), but am having trouble finding information on if any support this and how well it will work.
Any advice or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Bought a AverMedia Game Broadcaster HD card. The software that comes with it (RECentral) can display what is being fed into the card. It can also display the input in full screen mode.

Works great other than for some reason using component input and trying to get sound seems to cause problems (no video), using component also seems to reduce video quality. HDMI input works great though.

My main worry was lag, and compatibility with eyefinty. Both are not an issue.

Only complaint now is the 30fps that the card displays at. In some games it feels a bit choppy, but it is playable.

Edit
{ Games appear to play smoother when the video recording format is set to uncompressed, even when not recording }

Some pics of my Xbox 360 and Wii U (Wii games played on Wii U)
