So how do you do it? Will it boot right away on a fresh build, or do I need some cheap start-up ram?

it will boot, but once everything is good, you can go in and change it to 500mhz in BIOS.

Thanks, I'm going to be buying everything here in about 2 weeks when I get my refund. Does this p5b deluxe support the newer quad core processors too? Will I have any problems mounting the tt120 in my Lian-Li PC-60?
Aslo, on the psu, should I get the ocz game extreme 700w, or the antec true power trio 650?

yes, it will support quad, the TT120 should fit in your case and i would suggest this for a psu.

I know you are under tight budget, but that 7900GS with a 6600 is a shame, a damn shame.

Why is it a shame? The 7900gs is way faster than my current 9800XT, which plays all games that I throw at it just fine. I actually thought about getting the next processor down from the 6600, and a better video card, but thought to myself....in a year or so from now I'll be wishing I had a dx10 video card. So no way I'm spending $500-$600 on a dx10 card now when it will be a year or so before games and apps that utilize dx10 hit the market full force.
Make any sense? It does to me. I mean if you think about it, the extra money to get the next higher up 7900 series card isn't really worth it when the 8 series are out, and the next up 7900 series isn't all that faster than the 7900gs to justify spending the extra cash on it.

That's what I did, just make sure to get an eVGA because of their awesome step-up program. You send them your old card and they give you credit for another eVGA card.
