I'm afraid my test run with the Accell hub will also have no happy ending and I will be returning my unit.

While it resolved tearing completely I am now also dealing with monitors going into power save ALL THE F@#$%!NG time. I've played around with power settings both on the pc and monitor, different DP cabling, and monitor settings without success. It's not entirely predictable and just switching between Catalyst presets usually leaves me with blank monitors that need to be powercycled. Sometimes that doesn't help either. I've had occurrences where on boot none of the monitors powered on. Once I get them to stay on I do get non-tearing eyefinity on my three monitors but the erratic behavior of my monitors going into power save mode just isn't worth it. *sigh* mad.gif

I was told ahead of time through a chat that no screens on bootup you'd have to unplug the unit from the GPU and Plug it back in, or something along those lines.

Problem is that not even that worked for me reliably. Besides that I would call a device you have to disconnect and reconnect at every startup defective in its design. Add to that loosing connectivity when going back and forth between extended desktops and eyefinity and it just doesn't work for me.

I think I will abandon eyefinity for the time being and get a 1440p or 1600p screen for gaming.

If your monitor has source input selection, you can run a different cable to access the bios. From what I can deduce, the Hub will not get you into the bios but I do have two monitors off the card's displayports so I can get in without an issue.

Honestly, if you're trying to get Eyefinity going w/ the hub and displayport, setup your oc first and then go ahead and trigger eyefinity. If you're constantly going into the bios, get a cheap accessory monitor for now.

Sorry, I can't be any further help guys since I ended up switching platforms recently and I'm waiting for my new mb and cpu to arrive. I only got a chance to game briefly last weekend. Only issue I had was one of the monitors I picked up, lost the video signal if the dp cable moves a bit. Could be a bad dp cable or the monitor. Once i had all my monitors in position, I pushed in the dp firmly (locking type) and it didn't loose signal again.

@schreinereiner, see if you can rma the Hub and if you're not sticking with it, sell it to get some of your money back.

Alternative, find a gpu with three of the same connectors or go w/ nvidia. Good luck guys thumb.gif. I expect my new mb (Asrock Extreme11 X79) next week so I got no cpu or mb to game with this weekend frown.gif.

E11 board? Can I ask why you swapped to that mb with a 3820?

I see no benefits w/ a hexcore if the 3820 can pull to 4.8. Membah' I'm only gaming not competing for benchmark e-peen supremacy wink.gif

The combo of a 3820 and a RIVF makes more sense than with an E11 to me...

Double PLX adds quite a bit of latency and the more latency you add the worse frame timing will be. It's also an unknown how the DMA engines in Hawaii will be affected when they have no control over the route they can take to access memory. It's something to think about in the future.

Not running hawaii since I would want at least three displayports. I got it at a fair price so I took it (or committed to it).

From what Swolern found on his quad Titan triple 1440 testing, the Asrock is best suited for extreme resolution gaming (slightly better fps) while the RIVE for benching. I have no need to bench other then to test my setup for 24/7 stability.

Thought about a 4820k but I hear and see the oc is pretty medium. 3820 was cheaper and could clock higher. Waiting on Fedex claim, if its substantial, my drop in money for a 3930k. Then again, I matched 3930k w/ a 2700k in 1080 Surround running Metro LL bench....do I really need two more cores for a bigger e-peen....hmmmmmm....thinking.gif.....nah tongue.gif.

edit: btw, what happened to your Hawaii setup???

I doubt his findings personally. Loses are losses. To get a gain you have to overcome the losses incurred from the not just one PLX but two. To say an E11 had higher gains would have to mean that his cards somehow maxed x8 pcie 3 and utilized x16 links to an extent that it became a gain is hard to believe. It's not the first time users have bloated findings before whether they realized it or not.

And yea, the Intel quads with HT are still very strong. I pushed 7970s with a 3820 quite a ways too myself.

I'm waiting on lightnings. wink.gif

Oh btw, can the hub handle two 1080 panels at 120hz? I saw it vaguely addressed but wasn't sure about a definitive answer.
