This is what I'm thinking; there's too many monitor manufacturers and some might not want to pay a royalty fee just to stay in competition.

We don't know anything about how mantle performs. We have a bunch of speculation and some fuzzy claims from AMD about how Mantle = awesomesauce.

It's fair to expect it to give a performance boost, but how significant that is, and how that relates to CPUs in particular, is something we just do not know. And that's without even addressing the questions of if this will (or should) be adopted widely enough to matter.

In every thread on Mantle here on OCN, all I see is a bunch of AMD fanboys having wet dreams. Let's wait for some real numbers before declaring Mantle the best thing ever (or a flop or anything else).

However it seems like you've got sore spot for complaining so much. I'm not going to defend fan boys of any type. If mantle is good it's good. If it improves game performance on all levels and helps the developers I'm all for it! I'm sick of crappy ports. Grow up and accept every advancement as it comes along, even if it's not your favorite company. I personally liked NVIDIA's little shield thing. Just wish I could use it with AMD graphics.

Call for proof.gif, get told to grow up.

Oh internet, never change.

You're looking for proof amongst rumors for the possibility of failure. I don't hold that much pessimism in my body, it's unhealthy. Possibility of making games better is good in my terms and that's enough for me.

Nope. Maybe read my posts? I'm saying that we shouldn't be drawing any conclusions about Mantle until we actually see some real performance data.

Hrm, it's almost scary I posted the following to OpenGL devs and it wasn't dismissed as nonsense yet. I may be on to something!

If that's the case I suspect general APIs will easily feature it since it sounds so simple, and I suspect they may already do it and I've been behind latest developments, and if not even Mantle does it, I'm probably a genius and they should all do it.

AMD already said they were going to add Mantle support to OpenGL anyway... Not unusual since you can add custom things to OpenGL.
