3DMark Fire Strike - Negative Crossfire Scaling

I added a third Radeon 6970 GPU to my system yesterday and did some testing with various games. Additionally, I ran 3DMark's Fire Strike benchmark against it in the hopes of more quantitatively measuring the performance difference that the third card was making. It's often hard to tell in games.

To my surprise, what I found is that my score is 15% lower with three GPUs than two. Graphics Test 1 shows a 43% increase in FPS from two to three GPUs, but Graphics Test 2 shows a 32% decrease from two to three GPUs. I ran both tests yesterday with all three GPUs in the system, just changing the CFX configuration between 2 and 3 cards. The 2-card result was consistent with an earlier result I had from before I added the third card.

Has anyone else observed this behavior before in Fire Strike with 3x CFX?
